Sorry to hear you hurt yourself, PatE. Please be careful, everyone! After the horrid night, we headed to the seafront this morning. Despite the continual ‘mizzle’, there were quite a few people out and about. We did manage a decent walk though, with the bonus of surfers and windsurfers to watch. Home for a late lunch, then I watched Flushed Away, very witty and with the gorgeous Hugh Jackman! Feeling considerably cheerier!

I have just been out to look for shallots to plant and a couple of Magic series hebes leapt in the trolley too. For the first time I've seen plant pots labelled with "no peat used". Good.

Busy day at work and now board games with Charlie. He likes the new one we got this year, Catan, all about building settlements with a lot of trading for wheat, wood, stone ore and sheep. Extremely warm here, people sat outside and ate on the terrace today.
I am invited to a NYE party, and there is a room to stay overnight. I cannot remember the last time I celebrated NYE. I worked 2019/20, we had over 100 people booked for a ball. Tbh, I am not really looking forward to it, I think I would rather sleep. The problem with staying over is that you have to stay up late and then in the morning wait for the hosts to wake up before you can leave. Everyone invited is French too so an added level of concentration required. I just wasn't in a position to say no though. Hopefully it will be easier than I am expecting. The hosts are lovely, lovely people.
I have been thinking about getting some seeds, they were such a success last year, be a shame not to have the same gorgeous flowers.
Anyway, must go, time to play Catan.

Work was exhausting today but I have a few days off now. I have zero interest in NYE this year. We used to go to house parties back in the day but as the years have gone on I am happy to stay in with a nice bottle and watch next door’s firework display (if I’m still up). I’ve just realised that I could do with a ‘normal’ food shop and tomorrow will likely be ridiculously busy unless I go early (sacrificing my lie in). Sigh.
