@Chivetalking not really, as long as you don't leave them sitting in water and water around the Orchid.....not ON the leaves. Must admit I've only got a couple of house plants, prefer plants in the garden too @Topbird 😉
I'm back after 600 miles of driving, running-around-a-field duties 'daan saaf', a quick tour of Bath and visiting relatives. No snow down there but we had some with storm Arwen at home and more yesterday to come home to
Haven't read back too far but I got this recently @Chivetalking and quite like it.
Did you eat there @Biglad? We enjoyed a very nice meal of Phad Thai and other eastern delights at our local branch last summer - half price courtesy of Mr Sunak😎
I could rather enjoy him bringing back that particular scheme😁
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Hello all. It has been very cold all day but there was a noticeable thaw in the snow and ice and then it started raining. Had to get a wriggle on to bring in all the wet cloth things. Chive, what about African violets if you want dinky little plants for your Mum or you could go for a Swiss cheese plant - Monstera. There are also the weeping rubber plants - Ficus benjamina which does also come in a variegated form. Other nice plants that come in striking colours are Tradescantia or you could go for Streptocarpus. The phalaenopsis orchids are easy peasy to keep as long as you use rain water and not tap water and don't put their clear pots into a pot cover - their roots need light.
@Ante30 'turkey and tinsel' describes mini holiday breaks where there is a sort of Christmas type celebration involved in the holiday - so turkey and Christmas decorations will also feature. Hotels tend to offer these mini breaks between the end of the main summer holidays and Christmas itself.
Gosh @Biglad, that could almost be on the continent - it looks fantastic.
SGL I have been writing cards and wrapping stuff. Meeting up with the Coniston Crew (a gang of we ladies who take off for weekends to guess where? Affectionately called The Connie Crew) on Wednesday at a local GC and that will be a good time for us to exchange our cards and gifts.
Hazel 10/10 for such a restrained vist to D**e**
I am signing out for tonight. Time to get my brain in gear for the quizzes. Enjoy your eveinings and I'll see you tomorrow.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
We had a small sprinkle of snow this morning on the roof, didn't settle on the grass. Think I might have said that earlier. There was also the first frost of the season, the lawn was a bit silvery all day.
We did the weekly shop this morning, Tesco for a change. At last I've found some comfy winter slippers. I hate backless ones. After that we went and had a light lunch in the pretty pub we have been to before.
I have been writing Christmas cards to family in the UK this afternoon. I'll post my UK cards before I go back to France.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I'm afraid not @topbird. I haven't been inside a restaurant, pub, theatre, cinema, etc. etc. since Covid arrived. I just wandered around in the sunshine for a couple of hours taking photos of random buildings
Evening everyone, SGL Thank you I will think about the Orchid, LB Glad you mentioned about the clear pot, they often seem to come in solid ones as gifts. Thank you for all those suggestions, I particularly like the Tradescantias foliage and Streptocarpus has lovely flowers, this is getting hard to choose! Enjoy your quizzes, Busy Couldn’t be without my slippers, nice to find a pair that are the right style for you. Hope you don’t wake to anymore white stuff tomorrow, Topbird I like an Azalea thank you that's another good suggestion, plenty of colour choices with those, Wishing you all a Goodnight, while I peruse all the choices 😊
