Goodness Biglad, you weren't there when I posted my rant. I have one of those card readers you were on about but I reckon in all the years I've had it, I've used it about 3 times and the last time the battery was almost flat so I couldn't even seen the numbers on the titchy screen. I absolutely refuse to download a banking app onto my phone and I do not use my phone for ANY financial dealings.  I've already got over 400 Apps on the phone and 99.9% of those were the bloat that came with my mobile. I've forced stop virtually all of them - so annoying that you cannot delete them like you can on a laptop.
RosieBB, I love the sound of your polar bears. What a very festive display you have started.
Chive, you have a lovely evening too.
Debs, more positive news from your house. I have never heard of Turkish Delight Gin. I had to refill my bird feeder today as the one in the back garden was emptied in about 3 days - Ante and I filled our feeders on the same day as I recall so he may remember accurately which day that was. Enjoy your Chinese meal.
Biglad, leave the remaining jobs for today. They will still be there tomorrow.

One of my tasks today was to upload a banking app so that I can generate Activation Key codes and who knows what to validate any banking I want to do. I used to generate a 4-digit number on a device that looked like a mini calculator but that has just died and they won't replace it.

I suppose you’ve changed the battery in the card reader?  With our internet bank you can use anybody’s reader.

  • Debs Sounds like you’ve had a really good day all in all, time with daughter and grandson, lots of nice Christmas bits and your fiancé is feeling better. Pleased to hear you’ve been happy with Octopus energy, I’m hoping we will be too 🤞
Oh Biglad that sounds like such a headache 🤕 hope you have more success getting things sorted tomorrow,
LB Hope you sleep well tonight and have a lovely outing with the Connie crew tomorrow,
Goodnight Hazel hope you sleep well.
    Goodnight All, sweet dreams.
  • LB how infuriating for you with your energy company.  I’m still on the treadmill with mine.  It could be next year and it’s always possible they get it wrong. I hope the unit is of help to you. Our choices have really diminished.   I hope things improve.   LB and Chive and Hazel thank you.  It does look quite cosy and out of reach of the paw with the claw, lovely as he is.  Debs enjoy your takeaway.  Good night LB, sleep well in advance of tomorrow’s outing.  Lily I hope your day hasn’t been too bad and you get some sleep.  Hazel foot is aching a little but bruising not too bad. Sleep well.

I was allowed to see the surgeon in the small private hospital with OH. The surgeon said the hip needs replacing as soon as possible, hip Xray is worse, but the anaesthetic wants to wait for heart and lung results. Heart results are OK, waiting for date for a lung scan. Surgeon says OH must ring the NHS hospital and persuade them that it's urgent. The surgeon was nice and younger than I'd expected.

  • Hi everyone, thank you for your good wishes. I have no voice at all and a sore throat, but no cold and just a slight tickley cough. Dosed myself up with honey and lemon, paracetamol and just had a blackcurrent sip......made by the same makers as the lemon flavoured ones 😉.........but don't like those much, as too lemony 🤣
It's pouring with rain and blowing a hoolie outside tonight.
@debs64 what a gorgeous photo of your grandson, he is growing up so quickly. So pleased to hear your fiancee is feeling much better.
Well done finding the Camp coffee @Ladybird4
@bluebellsinthewild glad your foot isn't as painful, can you bare to put any weight on it yet?  Your polar bears sound lovely, do they light up.
@Busy-Lizzie Hope all went well with your OHs appointment today.

My minds gone blank, sorry everyone, do hope you're all ok.
Night night everyone, sleep well and sweet dreams.

Sorry to hear you have been fighting similar energy battles to me LB. Very good luck with it. Presumably yours are partly down to the chaos that ensued after your energy company collapsed a couple of months ago?

For my sins I have been with Brit Gas (electric only - we don't have gas) for years so it was somehow more irksome that Scottish Power suddenly decided to commandeer  supplying the electric to our meter. Every meter has a serial number and they think somebody processed a genuine request to change to SP but typed in my serial number by mistake.

Easy enough to do I guess but more complicated to sort out. Even more annoying was that British Gas never once got in touch to ask why I was 'leaving'. Just a message to 'Get in Touch' on my online account which I only saw by chance. How often does anyone look at their online energy account? - once a month at most normally? And then it was nigh on impossible to actually get in touch with them!

Just coincidental (or so they said - hmm🤨) that it was when I'd instigated changing tariff.

So frustrating! I really hope it's sorted now.

Biglad - I feel your pain too, although I have (wisely or not) fully embraced online and mobile banking. I particularly love being able to pay cheques in via my phone rather than trecking to the bank or post office. We're with Natwest & find them ok to deal with if that helps. (Oh oh - I bet that's who you're with now isn't it?😁)

Visit to the opticians went ok. Very minor change to my main prescription (which isn't worth bothering about) but I've ordered some new specs to replace the Jack Duckworth's. 🤓

@star gaze lily I hope you sleep tonight.

  • Topbird a good result with your optical prescription.  I’m due next year.   It seems that the remaining companies customer service is lacking.  Busy I hope oh lung scan can move things along for the hip op to go ahead in the not too distant future.  It sounds like he’ll have to do all the chasing.  Time for something to eat tummy rumbles.  Good morning everyone.  December has arrived, white rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits.
