It's quiet afternoon here. I hope that LB had a good day at Food Bank.

Hazel, sorry to hear that you have some internet problems. It's nice to woke up and see all covered with pure white snow. 😂

Here is also cold and I also can see how snow is drizzling. I had mentally difficult day and now need some tea and rest.

Afternoon all. Well I have had an interesting and very rewarding day at the food bank today. It was all hands on deck today getting to grips with bagging up foodstuffs, re-ordering and unpacking food. A man arrived with a huge order from A**a - 5 of those large, slotted trays of stuff and he was puzzling over its origins commenting that he didn't realise that the food bank bought in food. We found out later that 2 parents from the local primary school had made this order and requested that it be delivered to the food bank for distribution. What a kind and generous donation. We then had a visit from a representative from the local lottery who had arrived with a cheque for £500 - another wonderful donation. It was all very positive and there was a real feel good factor. Bestie and I are looking forward to our next time.

Oh drat Biglad. I'll just have to save my snogging until New Year's Eve!
Busy, I hope that you had a super meal out with your OH. When will he hear about his lung scan?
Ante, I hope that the mentally difficult day has got a little easier towards this evening.
Neighbour has just been round and asked me to ring his mobile as he had put it down somewhere and didn't know where it was! Between us we traced it! I have to use my landline when I misplace mine.
Sorry to hear that the white stuff is impacting some of you. Its been really cold here - only getting up to 4°C. By the time I got home it was 1°C A bit brrrrrr!
Hazel, I hope that your internet is now sorted and behaving itself.
Hope all is fine with SGL and Chive. Not seen either of them today and I do hope Yvie and her family are OK.

  • Hazel I’m glad you eventually made it on line.  LB it’s really good that your time at the food bank was a positive experience and that you’ll look forward to your next visit.  Great the had NL funding and that people will buy food for others in need of a little help.  It’s a sad state of affairs when there is poverty and people are short of food and some not having a bed.  The last 10 years have been difficult for a lot of people and it’s good that there are some people to help.  There are so many automated services and banks and stores and post offices closing and the self employed and furloughs during lockdown and people having less opportunities.  Busy I hope you and oh enjoyed your meal out together.   Ante I hope you are unwinding and relaxing this evening.  I went to the post office am and then visited mum and dad and have lunch.  Back to fill Alfie’s bowls and have a snooze after a sleepless night.  I feel better for that.  I was feeling phased I was so tired.  I just want to mention young Arthur who died at the hands of his adoptive parents and the Court stood for a moment of silence being so moved by this.  I just wanted to recognise his young life and I felt very upset to hear this on the news.  A very sad reflection on a certain element in society.  Bless young Arthur and rest in peace.  Sorry for the long post.

Good on you @Ladybird4. Glad it went well and was an uplifting experience. Even if we all agree that it shouldn't be necessary.

We had a lovely Christmas dinner. Don't think I'll need any more food before breakfast tomorrow.

Got home and read a French newspaper on Laptop to find that Macron has decided that anyone going to France from Saturday needs a travel antigen or PCR test, NHS won't do. No time for PCR, results take 48 hours. I've booked an antigen test for £40 at the airport. I wonder how many people will be stranded? I've informed an expat group on Facebook. The French government haven't even finished updating their website yet.

I'll retire early this evening. I'm tired and outside is quite awful. Wind, cold and rain.
    See you all tomorrow.

    Good night and sweet dreams.

Ante, I hope that your weather shows improvement tomorrow because it sounds absolutely awful!  Fingers crossed that you get a good night's sleep tonight.
RosieBB, I share your horror and disgust towards those two cruel people who treated that little boy in the most unbelievable manner. The poor little boy did not deserve any of that. There are no words.

Glad that you had a gorgeous meal Busy. I am sorry to hear that you are going to be stung for an antigen test. Another hiccup that you could do without.
