Hello all … such a lot of news!  Forgive me if I don’t mention everyone 😵‍💫 but special crossed fingers for @Busy-Lizzie and her lovely OH 🤞 I do hope ‘they’ can sort out his op very soon.
I’ve got a lovely treat today … Wonky Womble is paying us a visit.😃 She had promised to help put the garden to bed for me, but OH did it at the weekend so there’s nothing for her to do but put her feet up and natter with me ☕️ 🛋

Good morning Ruby and Dove. Yes indeed Ruby, the hail and wind woke me in the middle of the night and its still blowing a hooley out there.
Dove, I hope that there is cake!

  • No cake LB … but a very fine creamy curried parsnip soup for lunch, with sourdough toast 😋

Good morning everyone and thank you for your sympathy for OH. It just seems to drag on.

Does anyone know why we say "pinch, punch, first of the month, no returns white rabbit"? I googled it but can't find an answer.

No idea why we say it BL - but I always do. Have to pinch and punch myself as OH doesn't hold with such nonsense. Anybody else do "A nip and a kick for being so quick" in retaliation? Or is that just a legacy of my sadistic fatherenjoying inflicting discomfort on small children?

Anyway I have to do both bits on myself  or it feels unlucky 🤪

I seem to get on ok with everyone in my extended family but we're not that close and I don't see much of them (they're literally all over the country). Always seem to have a nice time and lots of chat when we do catch up though. My sister-in-law is something else though. Think she's fallen out with everyone at one time or another. Family joke she'd fall out with herself if left alone for too long!

Dove - hope you have a lovely time with WW.
LB - enjoy your catch up with friends too
Debs - good to hear OH is on the road to recovery
SGL - stay warm and hydrated

Hope everyone else has a good day too. I'm going to be playing with techie stuff today. I may swear....

Well, it's no more sunny. Now is gray and cold. I have some good news, my neighbors roof is finished few moments ago. She is so relieved and happy now.
Did someone mentioned cake? LB when will you start with your Christmas cake? I'm thinking about baking bear claws this afternoon.

Good afternoon everyone. Had a great meet up with the Connie Crew - some of whom I haven't seen for 2 years. We had a super catch up and are planning our next meet up in the New Year.
@Busy-Lizzie. Pinch and a punch for the first of the month and no returns is thought to have originated in old England. A pinch of salt was said to weaken witches when thrown at them and the punch was to drive them away completely.
The white rabbit is supposed to be lucky so by saying white rabbits at the beginning of the month was meant to make it lucky.
T'Bird, I have heard the nip and a kick response too.
Ante, I have made my Christmas cake already Will your bear claws be cinnamon flavour?
Hazel, it is absolutely chucking it down (Ante: pouring with rain) here and going dark already.

I should have added Ante, that it was great to hear that your neighbour has finally got her roof repaired. Now she will be able to face the Winter with less worries.

LB, nice that you had a lovely day with old friends. It's almost dark here too, and it's raining. I'll make claws with coconut and cover with white chocolate.
