How blinking annoying is it when your phone tells you that your fingerprint doesn't match! Helloo, I have not used the wrong finger. Luckily I can still use my pin but its just another niggle to contend with.
Never mind, got my smug face on as I manage to loosen the filter cap on my washing machine, using a small wrench from my toolbox in the garage. I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively clean the filter was but all is scrubbed and replaced and Lily's TV is on overtime.
Wrap up warm when you venture out Hazel. Time for a cuppa before I have to peg out.

Morning all - a very cold but sunny start and the wind has gone. I love seeing the frost sparkling in the sun.😎

Hope all those going to work or out and about get there safely. Did your OH mutter the immortal words of Capt Titus Oates as he set off for W'rose @Dovefromabove? I know it's only just round the corner from your house, but would still have been a tad chilly on a bike!

Not sure what I'm doing today. Need to pay OH's tax bill and buy my brother and SIL's Xmas present. It's a voucher for a small local pub / restaurant chain. I really enjoyed my meal at one of their pubs on my birthday & I've heard very good things about the rest of the group.

The group's one Norfolk pub (the rest are in Suffolk) is very close to bro's cottage in Wells-next-the-sea and they eat there on special occassions so I hope they'll enjoy dinner on us in the new year. Never know what to get them so I hope this is welcome!

Don't worry about your clematis Hazel. I cut all my Group 3's down to 6" each year and I've had to do the same with other groups before now. They come back stronger than ever - especially if you give them a little feed & mulch in spring.

  • Afternoon everyone, Brrr certainly glad to be back in the warm,
LB Yes I’m back with the little people this week, they are practicing their Christmas nativity which is so sweet 🤗
Well done for getting the filter cap off, a good job accomplished 👏
Hazel Remembered my mask thank you 👍 Did you buy anything in Dun**m? I’d like to go back for another look it’s such a lovely store,
Busy Sorry to hear you & OH will be apart this Christmas, but nice that he will see his daughter.
What have you been up to today SGL gift wrapping? Keeping warm too I hope,
Topbird That’s a lovely gift idea for your brother & SIl, something for them to enjoy together in the new year.
Talking of gift ideas 🎁 🤔 I really need some help choosing a nice houseplant for mum. She already has Amaryllis, Peace Lily & spider plants, any recommendations for something different?
Hope you have a nice afternoon everyone.

    Afternoon all.

Just came from walk. It's freezing outside and not much pleasant. I'll prepare something for dinner and spend rest of the evening reading or watching tv.

Chive, I'm glad that you are back to little people. Did you consider something like Tufted airplant for your Mum. There are many varieties. I found one article with the tiltle "Houseplants which is not easy to kill", and tufted airplant are one of them.

  • Thank you @Ante30 I’ll have a look at the Tufted airplant. Mum likes greenery around the home and it’s ever more important at the moment while she is housebound, so a nice plant will be a lovely addition 😊
  • I've been doing unmentionables this morning @Chivetalking 😉 this afternoon I actually wrote a few festive cards.
What about a Christmas cactus or an Orchid.....bit of greenery plus colourful flowers.
Love that shop too @Songbird-1 so many things to look at😊

  • Evening Hazel, I’m the same with houseplants hit & miss whether I keep them going, Mother-in-laws tongue was the first plant I ever had. You did control yourselves in Dun**m but if it was busy that doesn’t make for pleasant shopping especially now, nice to have a new picture frame for 23s photo.
Ante If I looked at the right tufted airplants the Bromeliads & Guzmanias while beautiful colours I think they may just be a little too tropical looking for mums home, but thank you so much for your suggestion 😊
I’ll post the question as a new discussion and see what I get 😀
  • So sorry @star gaze lily I missed your post, you’ve done well to write some festive cards it takes time to do them. A Christmas cactus is a nice idea thank you, I like Orchids not sure if mum could manage one are they fussy? 😊

I'm another non-houseplant person. Funny how so many outdoor gardeners don't 'do' houseplants.

What about an azalea @Chivetalking? Seem to remember my mum often had a little azalea on the dining table. Range of colours to choose from.

Another day when I seem to have achieved 'not a lot' but spent all day doing it....

I have one question. What is "turkey and tinsel" week? I read earlier in LB post and I googled it. I saw that many hotels and resorts offer turkey and tinsel breaks.
