I was told by a guy selling biomass boilers that eucalyptus has one of the best BTUs as firewood with a faster growing time than a lot of other trees. I've no idea if he was right though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

You're not supposed to use them as indoor plants in offices and the like (those big atria with a full size garden including mature trees) because they tend to explode when they burn, apparently. Maybe only specific ones.

Oh yes, I can vouch for that as well.  A friend of ours had them lining his drive,  he had to get tree fellers in as they were too big for him to manage.
I had just one in the garden where we lived before here,  it was huge in no time. And a bit spindly.

There's a joke in there, but I'll resist.

    Oh dear
it doesn’t help the cause of the farmers advocating for more environmentally aware farming when someone like this doesn’t understand basic maths.

Well if that’s the sort of maths that’s predominating at COP26 we’ll have put an end to climate change by Christmas. đŸ€Ș

@Pat E Like @punkdoc I shall be keeping any that grow to shrub size.   Next door they've let one grow and are now having to call in tree surgeons as it's grown too big.  Huge.

I’m not surprised Obelixx. They are all over our hundred acres with no help from us. 🙄

Just like our native ash and sycamore and the flipping imported mimosa.  Some eejit planted 2 here years ago and now they're sprouting all over.

  • Our ndn had a eucalyptus and it became enormous in a short time.  Luckily when they had a new extension and patio,  it had to be removed. I did read something a while ago with someone saying they get a bad rap, apparently there are cultivars that are not overpowering monsters.  Unfortunately I can't remember the details.
