A cheese sauce is a wonderful thing @Hostafan1 ….. you’ll never go hungry 😋
Chilly here this morning- hope there are some glasshouse jobs for me today at West Dean.
Back to full fitness here (apart from swollen arm glands - but that is a usual reaction for me). Went up to Stockwell last night with bookshelf, curtains and a drill so pictures could be hung. Littlest chicklets place is now looking very homely - they’ve done wonders with it in a few months. Ate out at a portuguese restaurant with Benfica playing on the telly ….. it was lively 😵 (but in a good way 👍🏻).
Sorry to hear of your GD’s disappointment @Lizzie27. Such a shame. Hope the rest of the family don’t pick it up from her - probably wise of your son to cancel. You’ll have to get a rain check sorted soon. Chicklet says the Christmas tree trail is fun 🤩
Morning everyone, well we haven't got the sunshine you hoped for Dove, but there is no frost unlike yesterday. It was interesting that there was little sign of frost at home but on the plots more than 2 hours later there was white everywhere. Regards to all.
Morning folks. OMG what a rubbish night. Trying to figure out a return to e bay! Obelixx I will do that with my daughter, with my grandkids,I cup my hand to me ear and look at them. The neighbour doesn't ask questions. He makes unpleasant comments. Hubby always thought I was exaggerating, but after being at home has seen for himself. A couple of months back we actually started house hunting (online) I had a chat to other granny, she's actually a qualified therapist. Said I felt bad bending her ear, under those circumstances, but she's lovely. Haven't spoken to her about any of this. My hubby saw a brilliant Hypno therapist about his phobias. She spoke to my daughter off the books for a couple of hours, but said to me she only does corporate stuff now, teaching people how to speak in public and the like. She said 10 years of listening to people's problems gets overwelming, you can end up depressed. I assumed everyone put a good dollup of mustard in cheese sauce. Onto town with my friend today, and little coffee shop off the beaten track. Hope you all have a decent day whatever you are up to
Good "wet" morning! It is raining! In fact, it is pouring/pissing down and has been for the last 12 hours. More to come but temperature around 11°C. Inside games and I have a good book to read in front of the fire!! We always need rain here, but when it does finally comes, it's a torrent. To add. We usually get this torrential in October. Are the seasons really a month late?
@Nanny Beach Thinking of you muchly. Mothers hold everything together and so much rests on our shoulders because we CAN cope. Lots of squeezes and support to you. XX
@Busy-Lizzie Although the numbers are rising, many are stay-at-home cases. Still, the 3rd jab is important, as is keeping distance, wearing mask and hand washing. We still wash our purchases outside before bringing into the kitchen and leave shoes and outer clothes outside for 24 hours. I pity the workers on public transport. Anyway, with winter approaching and last holiday break over, it was bound to happen. @Chicky I'm glad you are feeling a bit better.
@Lizzie27 That's disappointing news but probably for the better. More disappointing for the ballet concert. All those hours of hard work.
I'd better start moving and get this curry sorted. An enjoyable day to you all.
Grey outside. Must get up and wash my hair, but it is so cosy in bed with my book. Finished my coffee a while ago.
Good heavens @Tui, you are very thorough. We take off our shoes, wear slippers indoors, and our chats and leave them in the boot room but we don't wash the shopping. No facilities for that here anyway.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Hostafan1 ... to 'elevate' your bechamel cheese sauce a bit further for guests or to spoil yourself (and heaven knows you deserve it) replace half the cheddar with an equivalent weight of the cheaper of the Gruyere that W'rose sells ... the one in the rectangular block, not the wedge. The improvement in flavour and texture is remarkable. A dollop of Creme Fraiche stirred in at the end is also a very good thing. I also use a pinch of celery salt rather than ordinary salt to season it. Adds just a little more savoury edge.

Yes, @Busy-Lizzie we wash the purchases after every man and his dog have been looking and touching the goods, then putting them back on the shelf - touching the fruit, scratching their heads, picking their nose etc... Especially tins and same with clothes not that we buy a lot but still.... I don't see many people using the spray disinfectant on their trollies or the hand gel very much. Getting lackadaisical here it seems. And there is always the dilly Tilly that says she doesn't know when to wear the mask at the market, one day it's on, then it's off....lawks, there are some really dumb people around!
