It's good that they've got something to lend you. I don't think the Lovely Luke who looks after George has a 'courtesy car', but there's rarely anywhere I absolutely have to be nowadays.
Radio 4 are talking about 'Some Enchanged Evening' and playing lots of versions ... it is such a gorgeous and moving song.

Just stopped for a coffee. Been busy all morning, got a few loads of laundry done, and tackling the task of getting rid of years of clutter. OH is busy painting the guest bedroom, in case we get any Christmas visitors. Unfortunately that used to be his hobby room, and all the contents are having to be redeployed or got rid of. I daren’t touch any of his stuff, but I’m going through other odds and ends to try and make space. I’ve always kept a rag bag, but that seems to have expanded into a rag mountain! Not even sure if any of it gets used. Can’t remember the last time I cleaned any shoes etc! Ditto plastic sheeting and big plastic bags, supposedly to cover things while messy DIY jobs being done. Don’t ask about the bubble wrap!
Morning - sorry, a bit late Dove. Walked the dogs first this morning so have only just had my breakfast. Grey, damp and mild here.
I'm not one for religious festivals. It's the midwinter solstice - the return of the light - that I celebrate. I think in the northern hemisphere, we've always needed to know that the winter has 'turned'. The weather is going to get worse for a few weeks, but at least we can hold on to the certainty that we've passed the darkest days. Having said all that, a bit of communal singing never goes amiss.
The car is back. Seems to be working. My arm is a little stiff but no other ill effects from the flu jab. OH is out on his digger, trying to make our driveway passable - it's a complete quagmire at the moment. We may have guests for a couple of days just after Boxing Day, which will be lovely - we've been alone the last couple of years which is fine, but it is nice to have some break in the routine to mark the occasion. So he's aiming to get some gravel down before then if we can.

I like the shop windows @chicky , we usually pass through Farnham rather than stop but I need a new pair of shoes so that will be a good excuse for a mooch about town. I think I bought my current pair 7 years ago so they have done some miles.
I was up at 7.30am, making coffee to take back to bed. I was reading The Return by Victoria Hislop which meant I got up rather late.
OH is taking me out to lunch in a pretty, thatched pub. He says it's because our lunch recently was interrupted by daughter 2's unhappy phone call when I had to go outside to talk to her.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
