    Good morning all ….😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
goodness me we both slept well 🄱
    Glad you’re feeling better @tui34 😊
Starting a week of doing my BP checks morning and evening to email to the surgery … looking good this morningšŸ‘Œ then I’ve got to make an appointment with the nurse for a blood test …Ill do that next week.Ā
Certainly a very different experience of 11/11 to mine @obelixx, and to my OH who had a very different childhood to mine (and of course grew up in a different era). My son was just saying the other day how he remembers the whole village primary school walking down the road to the church for a short Armistice Day service, joined by many adults from the village, Ā and then all would walk back up the street to stand in silence at the War Memorial as the church clock struck 11. That was in the 70/80s. He was saying how the names on the memorial always had meaning in even to the children because most of them were the names of families still in the village, many of them those of children at the school.Ā
It’s strange isn’t it, how we think that others’ memories must be much like our own and take such things as ā€˜a given’ but in reality they may be very different. It’s a lesson to humanity not to take these things for granted … ā€œLest we forgetā€ eh?

Morning all, early fog lifting but not helped by a neighbour who has had a bonfire burning all night. I too have started twice daily BP checks today Dove for three days, three times with two minutes between each one, ready to present to the GP on Tuesday. Will book my booster jab while I am there.
Glad you are feeling better @tui34. OH is mixing some mortar to fix some edging bricks but i think it is too damp out there....but he won't be told!
  • @floralies If your OH could send us just a smidgeon of mortar over ... we have one loose brick at the end of the capping on the low wall between us and next door ... it's totally impractical to mix up such a small amount ... I keep meaning to investigate the possibility of buying some sort of diy readimix version ... idoes anyone have any recommendations if Floralies' OH can't spare any of his?

  • Morning everyone,Ā  weĀ  slept in a bit late too. Seems to be a dry start hope it continues.Ā Ā
Yes @Dovefromabove, you can get ready mix mortar from the big DIYĀ  chains, even so the smallest amount is around 5kg. You can try keeping the rest dry for future use but it tends to go "off ".Ā
Best wishes to all the poorly people.Ā

I'm sure he can spare some @Dovefromabove, in fact I've just looked out of the window and he has a barrow load! I hope it doesn't dry out on the way over!
  • Thanks @Allotment Boy ... that's helpful ... but yes, 5kg is a lot isn't it?Ā  Oh well ... it'll have to do.Ā  Ā Having been married to the building trade for many years I'm so used to just 'borrowing' a bit from a local job in the village for small repairs like that ... and then when we came here we had a builder do all the repairs that needed to be done ... but that was 10+ years ago and the Beast from the East had a go at that little wall ... as I've probably mentioned before, the front of this house is a bit of a frost pocket.Ā Ā

Thank you for your kind thoughts @Dovefromabove and @floralies

The sun has gone after its brief appearance. Ā Haven't turned the heating on yet, so I'll light the fire around 4pm. Ā I love it! Ā  Ā Found some chestnuts to roast for this evening's meal - with a couple of glasses of red!!

    Hello all.

I've booked my flight back to France 4th December. I have to have my 3rd vaccination and update my French Covid Pass. Vaccination on 8th December in France. OH still waiting for a date for his scan so I don't know if he'll be able to come with me.

Grey day outside. Nothing much planned. May drop into the Community Pub later. Sea Bass for dinner.

  • Cheers!Ā  @floralies ... problem solved ... OH says it's a 'good mix' and has done the jobĀ  B)

Afternoon all.Ā  Grey wet and actually raining at the moment so no gardening today.
I noticed that the Beeb referred to Armistice Day Dove.Ā Ā
We now have our boosters booked!Ā  And I have my flu jab, blood pressure and blood test all booked in as well.Ā  All at the local surgery.Ā  Oh the joys of getting old and being excited by such things!
