Great that your gp is on the ball, Lizzie27. I had my gall bladder out years ago, and the pain before it was diagnosed was pretty awful. No cake for you!
I am enjoying all the lovely food descriptions on this thread. Even the chooks mixed grain rice with thyme sounds delicious, Obelixx!
Got a few jobs done today, returned some unwanted stuff to B and Q, and posted a parcel of British Christmas goodies to a relative who lives abroad.
Next excitement is a mammogram on Wednesday, the lady who booked the appointment says it will be in the car park at Tesco. I’m assuming in a mobile caravan unit, at least I hope it will be!

Wow, such excitements in our lives @Ergates. I find that excruciatingly painful however. It's usually in a mobile caravan at our local hospital. That reminds me to book an appointment for me and also book a bowel cancer test. Over the cut-off date here!

Are you not even able to go into a public park @Obelixx without your Covid pass? Sounds very draconian to me.

Well done your son @Dovefromabove, they do have their uses sometimes. Hope your arm is still okay. Ours were slightly sore for a day or so but nothing more than that.

Open public spaces like parks are accessible @Lizzie27 but not public buildings or transport.    Wearing of masks for everyone aged 11 or over is required in pedestrian streets in town, markets, busy places and has never been relaxed in shops and malls here.  Not draconian, just sensible.  Infection rates are increasing, tho rates in France are currently at 1/5th of those in the UK in the last couple of weeks.   It is wise to err on the side of caution now we know that immunity wanes and boosters are needed.

@Ergates - when Scruffy was ill the vet advised essential oil of thyme in hot, over-cooked pasta plus her meds.  She refused it so I squirted the meds down her throat and gave her thyme infused 3 grain rice.   She scoffed that no bovver so now they all get some every day plus cider vinegar in their drinking water.

That's why I'm going back to France on the 4th, to have my Covid booster. Flu jab in local Norfolk pharmacy tomorrow.

Have a good day - even if you are having the flu' jab!!
@Ergates   Thyme is a natural disinfectant and a good infusion if you are poorly.

    Still dismal skies here.
    Have a pleasant day all.

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
A slightly restless night ‘cos my arm is a bit tender,  but nothing worse than that to report on the Zoe Covid App. OH will be at work today so I’ll make Cock-a-leekie in the slow cooker for our supper and then have a lazy day.
Sending hugs and hoping @punkdoc is feeling a bit better …

Mr C had his booster last week and was rough for a couple of days.  Mine is on Sunday.

I’m sort of an Elizabeth too …… middle name ……so will celebrate too.

Curtains made - nice and easy as plain and no pattern repeat.  But very long so took up a lot of floor space whilst I was working out what was what 🙄.

Helping at the dementia centre this afternoon, and having a sort out of old clothes this morning- our charity shops are “taking in” again, so a few donations will be being made.

Have a good Tuesday folks ☀️
  • Morning everyone,  dry bright but much cooler today.  Have a good day all.

    Good morning all.

Thank you @tui34. I never know when my feast day is.

I can see a glimpse of sunshine outside. I would like to prune some climbing roses. Do you think it's too soon?

Warm wishes to all the Lizzies and Elizabeths on your feast day (and the Queen!).  Do people call their babies Elizabeth these days - wracking my brains to think of anyone under the age of 30 who is called Elizabeth.  The Victorian serving girls' names have come back - we have a Ruby and a Nancy in the family and know of a Doris and an Edith as well as Arthur, Alfred, Bert...  But names from the 50s? Barbara, Wendy, Margaret, Gillian?  Or Brian, Trevor, Malcolm, Nigel?
