Morning everyone, hope you're fixed up soon @Hostafan1. Hmm we've been thrown a bit of a curve ball. I think I mentioned we have friends coming to stay tonight. They rang yesterday eve to say "thought we should tell you we are in the un-vaccinated group" . TBH I am a bit gobsmacked, we are still letting them come but I will have the greatest problem not bashing their heads together and asking very much WHY NOT?
@Allotment Boy ... that's appalling manners ... I would have absolutely no compunction in opening the door and telling them to go back from whence they came! I would be absolutely so angry that I wouldn't care if I never saw them again ... to have so little disregard for your health or your feelings ... that's not friendship.
A member of our family is unvaccinated ... she is not allowed in our house or in that of any other member of the family ... she has to stand in the garden and shout to her mother through the patio doors.

@Allotment Boy I would be angry too. I would have asked them not to come. If you can't do that then get them to take an antigen test and tell them they are putting your lives at risk. It is so selfish to refuse the vaccination.
@Hostafan1 I hope the mechanic has arrived. What a b nuisance.
It looks as though it will be sunny today.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I would refuse admission too @Allotment Boy. Last night our dance teacher told us one of her ladies in another class is refusing the vaccine so has to pay for a weekly test in order to have a Covid Pass. The Seniors' captain at OH's golf club is the same except that his refusal to be vaccinated is political. Stupid man.
Our car has been delivered from Luçon back to the garage, north of La Roche, where we bought it as it's still under guarantee. I hope they fix it asap as we need 2 cars on Monday as we're off in different directions.
Sunny here but chilly so far. Chappy has been along the roadside hedgerow with his giant strimming machine and has cleverly left lopped tree branches hanging on the leccy cables. That'll be fun to sort out.

I'm with the rest here @Allotment Boy, at least they told you which is something i suppose, they could have just come and not said anything until they were in the door. Beautiful sunny day today, had coffee on the terrace after a trip to pick up a prescription and a few bits in local Carrefour.
Our terrace is north-facing @floralies which is great in summer when it's hot but not for coffee on cold days with a northerly breeze blowing. We do have a bench at the front of the house - full south - but even that's a bit nippy today. Set to go colder too so I shall have to move a few treasures to the polytunnel this pm - strelitzia, agapanthus, fucshias.

They did say they would test before coming & if it was an issue they would understand. D is one of my longest standing friends we met at work when we were both trainees. He didn't stay in lab work very long as he found the career path very slow and limited financially for many years. They live in Wales now so we haven't seen them in over 2 years. There have been times in the past where we haven't met up for years at a time but they are the kind of friends you just click back in with even after a long break. He's an intelligent person so part of me is very curious to find out their reasons. We might be in for a lively debate tonight.
Surely they are only putting their own lives at risk, if you’ve had your 3 jabs your not at any more risk than if you went to the shops. Selfish in that if they caught it they would take up a bed and ventilator , or have I got that wrong.

@lyn ... If you go to the shops you can keep your distance and wear a mask and use a sanitiser ... they may also be using the same loo and bathroom facilities .... my understanding is that Covid can be transmitted via urine so unless they clean the loo each time they use it there is a risk of transmission, even if very small. It's a huge imposition to expect Mr & Mrs @Allotment Boy to take those precautions in their own home.
Also my understanding is that if someone who has not been vaccinated is carrying Covid, they're likely to carry a greater 'viral load' than those of us who have been vaccinated, so are more likely to transmit sufficient of the virus to infect someone else.
As I said a few days ago I spoke to someone who had Covid early on before vaccinations were available, and since then has been double jabbed and still caught Covid at a family christening ... although she wasn't hospitalised the second time she was still really poorly for at least a couple of weeks and now two months on is still not back to normal.
Certainly not a risk OH and I are willing to take.
