Oh, best not think like that, he might surprise you yet. Do you have friends nearby you can call on, if only for a cuppa or a lift?

I wondered about all your hostas, have you tucked them all away ready for the winter. Do I need to bubble wrap round the pot of mine? I've put it next to the house wall so it's warmer there. I think I'll have to split it next Spring. (I was going to type, it's getting big and congested but I don't want you to choke on your tea!). :)
No need for bubble wrap, ( unless it's for the pot )  ;)

Oh dear @Lizzie27, it sounds as though your OH is about to go through what my OH went through to start with about his hip. It was the physio who referred him in the end.

OH had his 3rd jab and he's fine.

We collected the work bench I'm giving him for Christmas, among other things, then we looked around  a local emporium and had a drink in the village pub.

Did ironing in front of TV this afternoon.

    Evening Friday!

PJs on, pizza eaten, feet up. Lovely jubbly.

Is it just me (quite possibly) but has the joy gone from the thought of the upcoming winter festival?? Last year was effectively ‘cancelled’ but it felt appropriate, like doing your bit. This year… I’m not sure what to think.

    I hope all are ok.

Ps. Can anyone recommend where to buy white vinegar (for cleaning)?
My garden and I live in South Wales.

Supermarket @AuntyRach!  Often labelled as spirit vinegar but over here it' the cheapest and comes in plastic, 1litre bottles.   Failing that a DI store.

Xmas markets here were all cancelled last year but, so far, they're on this year.  There are two I want to try and one we know is good.   The Vendée has strict mask and Covid Pass rules in force till 6/12 which includes some of the markets so we'll have to wait and see.

Raisingirl, is the Greendale vaccination centre just east of Junction 30 any nearer for you? Taunton sounds like a trek, but depends where you are in relation to the M5.

Aunty Rach, I’d take a look in Lidl for white vinegar. Their condiments are usually half the price of the regular supermarkets.

Auntie Rach,is the upcoming winter festival what we now have to call Christmas 🎄? My hubby's been saying for years he wants it to be just the 2 of us. He got his wish last year,my oldest daughter is in Kent they were locked down,my other daughter and oldest son decided it was safer not to mix. Putting my feet up,yes, with a glass of wine! Busy tomorrow, buffet for youngest daughter s birthday.

No @Nanny Beach.  It's PC gone mad!  Nobody tries to call Diwali an autumn holiday or Ramadan a "whenever the moon is right" festival so why should people of Judeo-Christian tradition have to give up Christmas or Easter in favour of winter and spring hols and why should anyone of Pagan/nature leanings have to re-name Yuletide?

Hi Egrates, thanks for the thought but no - Greendale is 35 miles away and the Taunton one is a mere 31 miles. It might be quicker in normal traffic, the Taunton one being right in the middle of town (Taunton has horrible traffic), but I've booked it for a Sunday afternoon in the hope of missing the worst of it.
