Bah. I've been trying to source an extra shelf for my greenhouse and I wanted the manufacturer's aluminium shelving to match the ones I already have because they're nice and solid. I can't find anywhere that does mail order for them though, and even if they do it's all out of stock. I finally found a company that makes basically the same thing at a reasonable price and with free delivery so I ordered from them. That was three weeks ago and since then I've heard nothing. After a few chase emails and phone calls that were all ignored I finally spoke to someone today who said they'd have to cancel my order because they can't get a courier cheap enough for them to honour the free delivery and anyway they can't get hold of any brackets at the moment. It sounds like a smaller family company so I'm not making a fuss but it's just put me a couple of weeks behind in sorting out the greenhouses ready for winter.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

William Shatner’s response to Prince William’s views on space jaunts for the rich and famous…

"He's a lovely, gentle, educated man, but he's got the wrong idea."

He said the flight was the first step to get "polluting industries" off of Earth.

"We've got all the technology, the rockets, to send the things up there...

"You can build a base 250, 280 miles above the Earth and send that power down here, and they catch it, and they then use it, and it's there," he continued.

Oh well, that’s all right then … chuck all our rubbish and pollution into space, just like we used to chuck it in the sea …. what a good idea ……  🤯😱🤯😱🤯😱🤯😱🤯

Could they not just have sent the whole lot of them up there [Musk, Bezos and Branson] and then left them there...
    ..and given us all peace.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

as it's your birthday, of course we can.
If they leave us their money, we'd do a much better job of spending it too.

I think most right thinking people would do the same, or at least try and do some good with it, but then again, most right thinking people pay their tax and do their best to be decent members of society.

  • I couldn't find an "off topic" thread so I've posted it here as I thought it funny.
But it is about someone having a moan, in this case,  about golf.
    You might find it amusing.

A few of us were in the pro shop this morning drinking coffee before we went out.

We were discussing our performances in the mid-week competition.

One of our number was bemoaning his performance  on a particular hole.

This has a ditch across the fairway about a third of the way down.

A good drive will see you over it, or you can lay up.

If you hit a poor drive, you'll  end up in the ditch.

"I was in the ditch again! I have lost count of the number of times I've been in there this year!"

The pro who was working on some clubs behind his bench chimed in.

"I know he's been in there often, as I'm presently re-gripping his ball retriever!"

    I have a problem here:
We were talking films. My husband accepts that sexual violence is de trop. Agreed. But he's happy to watch films with physical violence.
Why is physical violence in films seen as entertainment ?
However, I read on the BBC news site that a serial killer  child killer in India escaped  prison and was beaten to death. I thought , good. Hypocrite?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
