I have a problem here: We were talking films. My husband accepts that sexual violence is de trop. Agreed. But he's happy to watch films with physical violence. Why is physical violence in films seen as entertainment ? However, I read on the BBC news site that a serial killer child killer in India escaped prison and was beaten to death. I thought , good. Hypocrite?
I think it was Kenya. I remember seeing the front page of an Indian newspaper when were were there. Picture of some sort of brawl. " The accused arrived at court and was set upon and beaten by the victim's family, the police and the prosecuting solicitors" THAT made me laugh out loud.
I know what you mean @B3. We [joe public] often get worked up about sex in films or TV, yet we allow high levels of violence in the same settings without really batting an eyelid. Why is that?
I often have that debate with my daughter re your 2nd comment. I feel that two wrongs don't make a right, but how many folk would think exactly the same as you. We often say exactly the same thing, and can see both sides. I loathe hypocrisy too, but I can understand totally why people feel a sense of karma in that sort of situation.

I'm miffed because a fortnight ago, my hearing aid plastic tubing snapped. Rang the Audiology department at our local hospital who said they'd post some replacements to me. Arrived a week later, tubing doesn't fit the elbow, rang them again last week and they said the elbow had probably cracked so they'd send me a special tool and a new elbow to fit "if I was technical". That was last Tuesday, nothing's arrived yet and meanwhile I'm struggling to hear properly.
In the 'olden days' i.e. pre Covid, I would have just popped into the Clinic, waited a while and somebody would have done it all in 5 mins while I waited.
As a fellow sufferer, I would advise you to enjoy the peace and quiet while you're waiting. You won't have to hear the washing machine, the floorboards creaking,, aircraft unpleasant noises emanating from those you share your house with. Unfortunately, you can't hear birdsong, rain the wind though the trees and you can't were in on private but interesting converr
Too light a fine IMO @Dovefromabove. I'd like to think they were handed a trowel and made to put every single one of them back, but of course, that never happens.

I agree about the fine @Fairygirl ... except that the area they come from is pretty impoverished in many ways ... most folk there have a hand to mouth existence ... and with the costs etc they're having to pay towards that does push it up a bit. If I remember correctly someone (National Trust volunteers or whoever) got the bulbs replanted PDQ.
