£5000 grants for heat pump upgrades. You can almost see the price of heat pump installtions dropping by £5000 as soon as the grant runs out already. Solar panel feed-in tarifs all over again.
It's a way of distracting from the ban on gas boilers in 2035. Which is at least 5 years too late but better than never, I suppose. If they actually do it

I didn't realise that because heat pump produce water at lower temperatures it may be necessary to replace radiators with larger ones.  That means changes to pipework and even more cost.  My understanding is that installation of gas boilers is to be banned from 2035, not the use of them. As a gas boiler can easily have a life of over 15 years it will be a long time before they are gone.

Her voice to me sounds screachy, shouty, I don't like opera, that's all shouty, you cannot understand a word that's being sung. I do like the "Slavesong" from Nabucco. It's gentle and melodic.occassionally when driving along, listening to radio 4,there will be a singer, who can sing, but can never remember their names
I cannot think of a single female singer,I would willingly listen to. While I was doing my work out today I had radio 4 on,around 10.30,there was an opera singer, amazed the windows didn't shatter

    I adore Adele.
I think she's the finest singer / songwriter of her generation.
She had 3 albums in the all time top 20 female artists chart on Radio 2 at the weekend, including both No 1 and No 3.
Unlike so many who  have gained the success in their chosen careers, she's not above a great level of self-deprecation.
As for the comparison with that tinny, winy voice of Dolly Parton !!!!!! No .

Dolly Parton may have a tinny, winy voice (I don't agree) but she is one of the most successful song writers ever.  Depending on which article you read she has written between 1000 and 3000 and they have been recorded by many of the biggest names in the business.

I'm sure she's written many great songs, but her voice grates on me the way opera grates on others.

I look at it the same way as I look at solar panels. I couldn't afford them but my bills have increased to pay for everyone else's. I'm still seeing houses being built around here with gas boilers, no green tech, no future-proofing and still cutting corners on the fabric spec.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Absolutely agree @wildedges .... after much research this year we had no choice but to replace our old (20+ years) with another gas boiler ... I'm angry and disappointed ... but I had no choice.

Thanks for the link, SteveTu, wasn’t what I expected her to sound like at all. It’s possible I’ve heard her singing in the background somewhere, and thought it was Amy Winehouse. I rarely listen to the radio, usually have a cd or some downloads on an iPod in the car. Our big weakness is theme music from films, so we have loads of those.
