Slight variation on the cyclist question, but if I was going up the stairs in front of him I would go as slowly as possible and weave from side to side to stop him passing.  Give 'em a taste of their own medicine. :D

I'm with Dove, would keep out of the way and wait for man and bike to be gone. Perhaps we could have a moral maize on here, like Martin Lewis.WWUD or AIBU

I'm surprised at you ... why would you do that ... you don't know what other stuff he's struggling with in his life ... and besides, he might just drop it on you 😲😉

Lyn, you need to get back to sleep!
Ive been awake for an hour, but had a good book to finish on my iPad.
The rain woke me up,  I have heard rain down here but I think that must have been the heaviest, so I sat up and had a read,  then the lightening started so I got up, unplugged phone line and TV aerial by then was wide awake.

Full moon, heavy rain, thunder, restless kids, backache and that bloody dog mincing about all gave me a terrible night's sleep. Then my wife set her alarm for 6am but decided to snooze three times. I have to wait for her to get out of bed before I fall back asleep or I waste the chance to turn the duvet into a giant human sausage roll.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I was tempted to behave like a motorist and go straight through them knocking them over, but being a cyclist I had better manners. 😆
  • Think Id hang about and wait for the chap with the bike to get up the stairs safely … it’s all an accident waiting to happen and I don’t need to add to it. Life’s complicated enough as it is
Actually of I was them I would just keep to the left of the central handrails on the stairs. That way I could go up unhindered and they could go down unhindered. All at the same time without delay.

Why stop, look down the stairs then choose the busy and wrong side? I can't understand that.  It was a conscious decision because they hesitated at the top after looking down. It was two people,  or one and the other followed, making it a conscious decision to be difficult or awkward. I don't understand that.

Some people are awkward intentionally ... they're the  difficult b'tards... those who are awkward unintentionally but because they lack a logical brain are just confused .... both are best avoided on staircases.  😨

I sometimes have to stop and think about left and right. It's not instinctive to me. Fortunately, I don't carry a bike around with me

It's when the chap carrying the bike up the stairs changes his mind half-way up and turns around and starts to come down again that trouble can really start 😨
