Clingfilm. It used to cling but the current variety is useless.

It's not just cling film that doesn't cling any more.  The National Trust car window sticker I received this year kept falling off, not a problem I'd ever had before.  I e-mailed the NT who said the new sticker was made of environmentally friendly material and wasn't as adhesive as the old one.  They did offer to send me another one out - made from the same useless material.  I declined the offer and taped it in place.  The irony of using twice as much of the environmentally friendly material plus another paper envelope was presumably lost on them.

I'm watching the documentary on the storming of the capitol. I knew it was bad but I am genuinely shocked and angry. My blood is boiling! I have never believed in death penalty and hopefully never will but I think these people probably won't accept they're in the wrong without serious punishment. I won't sleep tonight unless I calm down. It's sickening!

My fear is whether it could happen here? If it did would you be with them or would you stand up to defend what democracy we have? If it did would you be willing to organise to help stop it?  Why didn't true American patriots not turn up to defend the capitol? Why did people leave it to those criminals?
That is exactly why I was so insistent the other day that in a democracy protests have to be within the law.
(on that thread talking about the Insulate Britain roadblocks etc).
As I said then, the feeling that your wishes/demands etc justify breaking the law is a very slippery slope.
The danger with Trump is that he promulgated the belief that democracy was already broken … he’s a very dangerous narcissist who has got away with illegal acts all his adult life. He should’ve been  brought to book a long time ago.
I saw this video on the news yesterday showing a women 'nudging' the protestors with her Range Rover https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/oct/19/video-shows-range-rover-pushing-insulate-britain-activist-at-sit-in Apparently she's now doubling down and insisting she's in the right and standing up for all single mums out there. If nothing else it shows blocking roads is a stupid way to protest. This women is now a hero among people who hate the protestors and it's only weakening the cause. Personally I hope she loses her licence and faces charges. If the law doesn't make an example of her now then worse things could happen.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Absolutely right.  It has to work both ways.  In a democracy the law has to be paramount.  The alternative is anarchy.

When you've used the clingfilm, fold the end over the edge of the box

I've seen this greenhouse on a local property listing. The listing says: 'Grade II* listed 'peach house' with attached boiler room. c1820-30 with most of the original glass.' and I thought it was expensive when I break a pane in mine.  :#  I couldn't sleep at night with that tree casually stroking the 200 year old glass roof. I guess if you can afford the £1.1m asking price for the house and still afford the renovations and running costs of the place then this might be small fry. It's all relative.

Radio 2 full stop (except for Popmaster of course). Greatest Hits Radio for me these days, especially Drivetime with Simon Mayo.
Still fume at the way he was treated by the Radio 2 bosses.

Of course. My autocorrect isn't a fan of modern music. It once corrected something to Tchaikovsky despite not even matching at all! I think it is a fan of opera too! 🤔
  • Get a Lakeland wrapmaster dispenser ... it's a bit pricey and you can only use their brand of cling film in it, but it'll save you a fortune in wasted clingfilm, time and temper.
Hmm! Even with the wasted film it's cheaper than Lakeland dispenser cling rolls in the long term. I had a friend who got caught out by them and did the maths to check.
