A friend saw this on Fbook ...

"If we wanted to boldly send billionaires where no billionaires have been before, we could have just sent them to the tax office.

no point sending them to Tory central office. They've all been there with their dodgy donations

The Tories have no monopoly on dubious financial dealings.  On Tony Blair is in the frame currently for using off shore companies to avoid paying his taxes.  This despite spouting off about how disgusting it was that the rich weren't paying their share.

I've never voted for either of them, but this is the useless shower who have been in power for the last decade, Why haven't they done any thing about it?
Love her or hate her, Cherie Blair is one of the country's top Barristers, I'm not saying any of them have done anything illegal, but certainly " dodgy" morally

  • Has it failed?  We’re on Page 9 of curmudgeonly posts already … creating it was a good way to keep ‘a corner’ for a particular discussion while still allowing the usual more random curmudgeons to be curmudgeonly. I think it’s worked 😊

It hasn't failed completely but is moving a lot slower than the older one seems to be. First time I've seen the old one doing that.  Most times you get a little crossover time but then the old one dies. This time the old one hasn't died and the new one hasn't taken over.

Although I'm glad the topic that is keeping the old thread going hasn't crept into the new one so perhaps there's benefits there.

That was the idea. I usually move on after 1000 posts. Many members wished to continue with the discussion  and it seemed  inappropriate for members to jump in with the usual gripes so I've opened 17 left 16 to eventually slip down the pages. As gardening tends to wind down in the winter, there's much more activity on the social threads. Like gardening, it's seasonal😊

Up all night with a stomach bug. I had intended to get the flu jab yesterday but didn't get around to it. It occurs to me, that if I'd actually had the jab, I would have been convinced that the symptoms had been caused by the jab.😒

  • Oh no, @B3, how rotten! Hope you feel better soon and are able to rest.

So much going around this autumn. Eldest has just been sent home from school with head and ear ache from the cold she's had all weekend 🙄

Much better now thanks @CharlotteF. An earache is a horrible thing. Steam with olbas oil or similar might help to clear the tubes.

Glad you're feeling better, if sleep-deprived! Why do sick bugs always seem to appear at night when you just want to be sleeping?

     and another one.
Isn't if funny that when you write your own rule book, you can always fall back on " no rules were broken"?
Pigs in a trough, the whole rotten bunch of them.

Shower packed up yesterday. Could have been worse, we have had it for ten years and it has served us well. I had to use the guest bathroom, involved relocating some spiders as it hasnt been used for a long while.
Now trying to choose a new one. Old one had a wireless control outside the shower, very convenient to be able to switch it without getting a wet arm or hair. Now being offered ones I can control from my smart phone....haha, I have a steam driven Nokia. OH has a smartish phone but it’s almost always out of battery, or he doesn’t know where it is. Just imagining a nightmare scenario where OH has gone out, and I have to phone him to ask him to put the shower on for me!
