Lifts and hoists are very good but only if they can be used by the handler in a safe and secure area. If someone falls in a small space like a toilet it is very difficult for one person to move them. This happened twice to my sister's OH last year in the toilet, she had to call the Paramedics on both occasions, the second time unfortunately he died in hospital after contracting Covid in there.

You may already be aware of this as well...but you can get a VAT exemption card, depending upon the condition/illness (https://www.gov.uk/financial-help-disabled/vat-relief).

This might be a daft thought @Kili ,or you might have already done it, but perhaps there are charities that could help with equipment to reduce your wife's risk of falling at home - things like strategically-positioned grab rails if there a places where the falls tend to happen, walking frame for use in the house and so on.

I've just turned R2 off for fear of an attack of apoplexy ... the sycophantic ravings of Boffle fans on the JV show were vomit-inducing ... so I turned the tv on as wallpaper while I have my lunch ... only to be faced with the Tango-faced one at a Republican Convention 😨  There should be a Public Health Warning!!!
I didn't give it the chance. Not a fan of Paddy whatsisname. and as for the subject matter !
I went to bed for 2 hours and had a lovely snooze

    Just a change of subject.
Has anyone had trouble getting repeat prescriptions lately?
I've had lots of " temporarily out of stock " emails from Lloyds direct , and a friend has just said his local pharmacy was out of his regular meds.

I was going to prune the mahonia back a bit but they've all suddenly gone into full flower a month or two earlier than normal. Now I'll have to wait until the birds have eaten all the berries. Assuming the berries still form and survive the winter that is.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

@Kili. When I needed equipment for my dad I looked on the internet and like you, there’s no Red Cross, but there was a man in our local town that kept equipment for the Red Cross  in his garage for hire so I didn’t have to go far.
I made a donation when I took them back.

Paddy is tons better than JV and he’s one of the folk who put his hand in his pocket to save our village pub, so I’ve a soft spot for him.

No problems here........ We use Asda pharmacy as it is nearest to us and opening hours suit my work shifts.
