Hello all, wet and wild day... again! @Allotment Boy thanks 😊 yes hubby was very pleased with the news regarding the sickle cell breakthrough we were both watching it on the news this morning, it's been a long time coming! He was also overjoyed to hear of captain kirk finally going into space! 🤣
I had a couple of tomatoes pop up in the veg patch! Didn't develop into anything much though but they were obviously out there, under the snow, in the winter.
Hello all, I also immediately thought of you and your hubby @WonkyWomble, when reading about the sickle cell project. Hope it comes to a hospital near you soon.
I've been into town for a hairdo, our bus service seems to be all over the place lately, other would-be passengers saying it was due to a driver shortage - perhaps they've all signed up to be lorry drivers instead. Thought the mutiny of the GWR passengers at Swindon was splendid but not so good for all the passengers they made get off at Reading.
Popped into M&S just for a browse, picked up a pair of trousers, a chiffony blouse and a little black jacket which I thought would make a nice outfit for another do we're going to next Saturday. All in my size so I thought but nothing fitted. Trousers too big, blouse too small and sleeves on jacket far too long. Grrrrr. (Sorry, should be on the Curmudgeons thread). There seems nowhere left in Bath that caters for small older women. And no, Obelixx, I don't want to make my own clothes again.
We were supposed to have torrential rain most of the day but so far it's been sunny and windy. Potted up my Iris bulbs yesterday but haven't yet planted my perennials.
@Chicky, we'll be in your neck of the woods at the weekend, would you know if Wisley is now allowing drop ins? I don't really want to advance book in case the weather's bad.
No bookings required at Wisley now @Lizzie27. Must go soon to check out the new hilltop gardens.
Well, four exams later and the alarm call this morning seems like a very long time ago. About to go and collapse in an exhausted heap and make myself lots of promises about never, ever doing any more exams ever ever again. Please feel free to remind me of this if you see me begin to waiver.
I'm so sorry @chicky, I had just remembered you were busy doing exams this week and was going to log back in and say don't bother, but thank you anyway.
You must be a glutton for punishment! I'm a bit confused though, I thought you had just passed and got gold stars - was that another set of exams or last year's?
I swore to myself when I did my last lot of IFA exams some years ago that I would never, ever take another exam in my life so I know what you feel like. I'm sure you will have done well and can now sit back and relax a bit.
Is that really all exams over now @chicky? When do you get your results? I'm sure you've aced it! That's disappointing @Lizzie27. I ordered a nice jacket to wear for when it is too warm for a coat but too cold for a cardigan and it does fit, but would have preferred a slightly bigger size to allow for thicker jumpers underneath. Couldn't be bothered with the fuss of sending it back though. Sizing seems to be quite arbitrary these days.
Lizzie27, by coincidence I’ve just written to M and S today, to ask them why they don’t put the actual length of trousers on the website. Would be helpful to know what length a regular pair of straight cords are, compared to the length of a regular pair of ankle grazers! Fine in store when you could try on, useless if trying to buy on line. Very tiresome. Had to laugh at the pictures of a jacket I quite liked the look of. Sleeves definitely on the short side, but it turned out the model was something like 5ft 10 and wearing a size 8. That was really helpful....apart from rather emphasising what I wouldn’t look like in it!

BUT you’ll all be delighted to know that Stratiotes aloides came up …..so that’s one mark out of 280 in the bag 🤣🤣🤣

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
