Good morning all. Rain here earlier but all gone now. Off to spa later with all 3 daughters for a facial and an afternoon tea with Prosecco what fun! All part of the countdown to the wedding.
Pleased to hear people are feeling better and keeping busy. Sending positive thoughts to those in the quiet corner

    Hello all.

I came home from the Lourdes weekend last night. We had a great time. The journey there was a bit traumatic, though. Huge traffic queues out of Périgueux, rush hour, and the Sat Nav said not to try the Bordeaux motorway. It took us a more country route. Near Pau 2 yr old GD started screaming, said 4yr old GS had hurt her shoulder. DIL wanted to stop at Pau hospital, thought shoulder was dislocated, but we decided to go to the hotel in Lourdes and call a doc if necessary. When we got to the hotel the shoulder was miraculously cured! In fact, it was her wrist but very minor. The hotel served a delicious dinner in their huge family bedroom as we were too late for the dining room.

On Saturday morning Son 2 cycled up a mountain pass, the Col d'Aspin. DIL and I bought a picnic lunch in a village shop and drove up with the children. DIL had prepared a reception for Son 2 with a flag, whistle, yellow vests and a silver cup. Son arrived, slightly red in the face but hardly out of breath, much excitement from the children. He's a tiny spot in the centre of the photo.

In the afternoon we visited Lourdes, the shrine, church, shops. The town is a commercial racket of religious souvenirs.

On Sunday we went to some huge caves, involving a coach ride, about 300 steps, magnificent rock formations, tunnels, a boat ride and a little underground train ride.

We stopped at DIL's lovely aunt for lunch on the way home. She lives near Pau and was having a BBQ lunch party with family and friends to celebrate her retirement.

Afternoon all. Hazel, I bet you felt terrible when 23's toy box wasn't around on his last visit
SGL I'm sorry that you weren't able to get your grass cut - though maybe you have by now. It did get nice and sunny here but the garden was still sodden. Since the council don't seem to be clearing the gutters some interesting ecosystems have sprung up but as a consequence, the rain water cannot get to the grids to drain away. These are also blocked up as the road Noo Noos have not been seen for 18 months. The lane has become a stream during heavy rain storms.
Debs, hope you and your daughters have enjoyed your pampering day at the spa. Afternoon tea and Prosecco sounds wonderful.
Busy, what lovely scenery. Thank you for posting the picture. It would seem that another little miracle was carried out at Lourdes with the rapid recovery of your GD How nice that you could meet up with some other relatives too.

    Evening all😎

Thank you for sharing your travel tales BL - sounds like a lovely trip🙂 I have quite a few pics of OH as a dot in the distance on his bike😁. Don't think he's cycled up a really really big hill / mountain yet.

Hope the spa day went well Debs - sounds lovely.

Rubee - good to hear all those injections may have been beneficial for your OH.

I've had quite a lazy day today except for a SM run. I'm fighting a very nasty cough which has kept me awake the last couple of nights so I'm a bit tired. Lateral flow test was negative so I guess it's something else although no other symptoms other than a bit of a sore throat. Hoping a G&T and chocolate are the best medicine...😉

Looking forward to the quizzes tonight.

    My brain hurts now!
Sorry to hear you have been plagued by a cough T'Bird. Having had mine on and off for 5 years I can sympathise.
p.s. You snuckered in there Hazel. Similar conditions here. I can feel that the temperature has dropped.

  • Busy you’ve had an enjoyable, busy, eventful weekend.  I’m glad the little lady made a quick recovery.  Lily it absolutely poured it down overnight and this morning, very heavy downpour, and continues.  I quickly grabbed a brolly, although windy too.Hazel you will see a happy face next visit to see the toy box.  I hope oh enjoys the table tennis.  The spa day with afternoon tea and Prosecco for you and your daughters is a lovely way to get together and relax and catch up.  LB only connect makes everyone’s brain hurt😵‍💫.  Topbird maybe some honey will help enjoy your G&T.  I hope it soon settles.  I’ve had quite a sleep this afternoon after a restless night so feel better for that.  Goodnight everyone.
  • @Songbird-1 sorry the ultrasonic deterrent hurt your ears.  My eldest son mentioned he could hear it the other day, but I thought he was teasing me😂  it certainly works though. I'll have to remove it when he comes round.
@Ladybird4 couldn't cut the grass today either, poured all morning, although brightened up in the afternoon. But too wet by then.
@Busy-Lizzie glad you had a lovely  weekend with your family.
@bluebellsinthewild it was awful weather this morning wasn't it. Hope you sleep well tonight.
@debs64 Spa day sounds wonderful, bet you had a great day together.
@Topbird hope you feel better soon. Gin and chocolate sound like a perfect medicine 😉

    Night night everyone, sleep well

I hope your cough doesn't turn into anything @Topbird.
Glad you all liked the photo.
I hope everyone has grass cutting weather tomorrow. My lawn needs doing too.
    Goodnight all.

Good Morning Snoopy Tuesday - 750x604 - Download HD Wallpaper - WallpaperTip
Good morning all. It was distinctly chilly in my house this morning so I have the heating boost on. I made 2 cakes for that fast approaching festive season yesterday - one for handy brother and one for Bestie - though I suspect that neither will last that long. The kitchen smelt divine! I am expecting some patio clemmies either today or tomorrow as the company actually let me pick a two day 'window' for delivery so I won't be wandering too far. I hope that you all have super days and I'm sending up thoughts for those in the quiet corner.
