I had Scentimental for two summers, I bought it from Beales' sale which rated the scent as a 9 but I could hardly detect it. I got rid of it suddenly on a whim this winter. It balled last summer (although it did rain excessively last summer and none of the roses looked great) and I suppose I didn't love it as I haven't regretted my rash decision to hoick it out the ground. Just for fun, here is one of my new favourites from last year, Leda. I love the colour mix personally but might not be to everyone's taste🙂 I'm looking forward to seeing how it does in year 2. It's a nice little shape and was quite floriferous.
@Victoria Sponge the colour bleed of Leda has fascinated me.. as if someone had put a new red cloth with the whites for laundry;) I don't suppose it reblooms, does it?
It’s once flowering @cooldoc, but from last year’s performance it flowered in quite a thorough, efficient way so it always looked like a specimen. Some of my once flowerers give an ongoing impression that in a few days they will be at their best but never quite get there (if that makes sense).
I like that Astronomia @Nollie. For some reason I often confuse it with Odyssey which I also like. Most of my new roses are many-petaled, voluptuous types but I think I have 5 new singles off the top of my head.
@Marlorena i love rhubarb and custard too, your spot on there, it does have that vibe too! I spotted it climbing over a huge fence on our estate and hunted it down as it was so unusual. Never seen it anywhere else either. Its prolific, great big blooms with huge sturdy canes, hence neighbour had it as a climber I think. Im very fond of it Aww thank you, never thought of mine influencing other rosarians.
@Nollie thats lovely! I dont think ive seen that before. Love the stamens and pretty buds. Im very excited for odyssey, similar but I could see having enough differences that having both would go beautifully in a garden.
...Jessica, I guess we're all influential here, I hope so... that's the fun of it.. I like the frilly petals on your rose.. ... anyone else getting sort of nervy? I dunno.. I get like this late winter, apprehensive for the season ahead.. just want to get going... I don't want any weather disasters...
'Leda' I think is rather pretty, and your 'Astronomia' Nollie has done so well, a nice rounded shape.. worthy of any garden ..
Pretty similar in looks to Odyssey @Topbird. I’m looking forward to Mrs. Oakley Fisher, has a bit of a rep for being a bit sparse but allegedly has a strong fragrance. I’m going to try and mingle it with a blue geranium (vis other thread!)
.. off to get a haircut for the first time in yonks, resembling a shaggy dog at the moment!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

I don’t have many singles but slowly introducing more. Astronomia (Sweet Pretty) is a healthy and fabulously floriferous one:
