@daisym, As well as Fire's Barkarole, you may like to look at Royal William, similar HT type with tall stiff canes but does bloom throughout the summer and beyond till late November last year in particular, so good for cutting.
@Marlorena I had Scentimental for a year.. it did not make the transfer to new place as it lost all its leaves to blackspot despite spraying.. Any thoughts on Claude Monet by Delbard?? wondering if anyone has grown that one... colour is more yellow than white..
Oh influence away @Marlorena. I saved a fair bit by cancelling my TCL order anyway and still have ‘credit’ left!
@cooldoc I don’t know CM but I have another Delbard called Guy Savoy and that is very lusty and healthy. It’s my only striped rose. Delbard roses have been much healthier than Weeks/Carruth roses for me. GS is fairly subtly striped but I like it all the better for that. Habit is fairly upright, more HT-ish than a shrub rose and can be trained as a climber:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Fire I have had a look at your link and also googled different nurseries. I think I will go with Eastcroft roses. Your photos are lovely thank you. I will order a bare root but my soil is very heavy so I may pot it up first. The site is facing southeast but is sheltered. Here's hoping. Many thanks. @Lizzie27 Royal William also looks lovely but bare root is out of stock at DA. Many thanks for your reply.
Heres a few more of my single / semi doubles taken last year for you @pitter-patter whilst we wait for the new season. Ive got dainty bess (thorns and all...) and bridge of sighs to come too. Ive tried to grow more for the bees. They love my huge rambler wedding day too. For your eyes only; Rosy cushion Angel eyes Eyes for you Rhapsody in blue
@Marlorena I can think of worse influences than lovely roses! The 'garish' sentimental note made me smile, I do apologise, but it made me think of my rosa des cistertiens which is anything but subtle! I dont know what it is about it I dont normally like LOUD patterns but I love it, its prolific and so striking and grows tall above the fence so I cant miss it! Reminds me of 'fruit salad' sweets and makes me recal the smell.
@JessicaS ... fruit salad sweets, yes I know them, so this is apt... I like Rhubarb and Custard so I could probably live with it actually... unusual rose, I don't think I've seen it in person.. You enjoy a good mix of roses, I think you are as much an influencer as anyone..
@daisym There are lots of red rose bushes out there to choose from. I mention Barkarole just because it's the one I know because I have it, and I love it Best wishes for your choice.

I have been told on the forum before now that my choice of colour palette is brash, garish and "common". Taking inspiration from said English dormouse (and Dixter), I do indeed 'grow what I love'. Dormice are highly endangered in the UK, so grow what they love, too.
