@Marlorena - ooo the plot thickens. My memory may not have been correct but I was pretty sure that the dead cane was separate, it was very close to it but ran to the side of it. When I cut it off it looked like it was originating from much deeper.
Just to check, I’ve investigated my past photos and confirmed that the brown cane you can see on the left of the photo is one of the original canes that came with Desdemona when I first planted her. This “root” growth wasn’t there then.
If you look at where it’s coming from, it’s attached to the oldest cane on the plant (the only original one left) it’s much thicker than the others - the brown barky one.
@newbie77 - I hope you’re able to get some time in the garden soon. I wouldn’t have got all these jobs done if it wasn’t for the mild weather coinciding with having to self isolate at home!
Family all well on the mend now. Eldest went back to school today as he’s had the two negative tests on consecutive days. I’ve got my first of those to do tomorrow to see if I can get back to work on Wednesday.
Outdoors is where I’ve been feeling best. Not coughing as much.
My sense of smell has come back but can’t taste still...which is odd!
@Omori - that's disappointing, I thought from the label in the corner that it was called "Pumpkin Beth" - which is a much more interesting name and matched the colour too 😂

I thought you meant there was a depressing film called Pumpkin Beth. I was thinking I’d never heard of that one! Just googled it.
Oh dear
...no worries... hope you feel better soon, nothing worse than losing taste..
@Omori
