Lovely growth @Marlorena. What do you mulch with? manure or MPC?
Last year I used some used compost from other plant pots and homemade compost. This year I haven't got homemade compost ready. I didn't turn it, was so squeamish about mouse/rat.
I was pleased with The Portland Rose last year, its first year, @Marlorena, it is in a north-east facing border and I'd forgotten there were tall Camassia on the sunny side which of course grew faster and swamped TPR with all the leaves. It smashed its way through however and I was happy for it. I'm not sure if I find the buds more beautiful than the blooms but I like its jolly nature.
I have been busy in the garden and hopefully some of it was constructive😉 There is still a fair bit of tidying up to do (pictured 😉) Here's a long shot of the back garden and the newly shaped bed as I dug up a bit of lawn to add Desdemona (new) and Alfred Colomb one of my new favourites from last year.
Here's a nice contrast between the new growth on Fountain and Goldbusch. 2 yr old Goldbusch has some crazy canes going on but I'm just rolling with it for now. I don't think it's an instant rose and want to see what it does before meddling with it. It has plenty of space over the stumps and the hedgehog heap on the right.
...very constructive... a busy garden for sure.. I like your Portland, when I had it the foliage got diseased too much for me.. yours looks fairly clean there..
I thought I had a load of weedy grass patches in one of the beds - big clumps seemed to have developed and I couldn’t think what they’d come from.
Started plucking them out thinking they must be grass - then caught a scent of onion! Realised they must be clumps from the small white alliums I planted years ago, I’d forgotten they were in there and didn’t realise that they’d grown so much.
Just remembered that I’ve got some garlic chive seeds that we never got round to growing. I’ll have to sow some this year. Can stick alliums in anywhere!
EDIT: I transplanted some spring onions into the borders last year!

..MPC mostly.. I might have done a few with manure but I've never got enough of it to go round.. old compost from pots is fine too..
My garden doesn’t get much sun yet at this point (overshadowed by houses) so mine are mostly behind — but the aphids aren’t
