    The arch looks great! @Fire
I think the way you’ve tied it in looks fine.

    Like the chimney pots too.

I got scratched today too, Dainty Bess bit me on the thumb unpacking the bag off her! Typical... I always wear gloves gardening, but not unpacking!

    Like the chimney pots.
Thanks. They were my mum's before she died. I was considering them for baseless pots for the long term. They might be too narrow. I don't think a rose or a tree would be happy long term in that. The idea with a baseless pot is that you gain automatic height and the roots make their way down below the pot, so being sustainable and you don't have to water, eventually. I suspect there are optimal dimensions for a baseless pot - for planting a tree or a shrub. Interesting. I love having some height.

Currently I only use the chimney pots as the base for moveable garden shelving and to hold pots off the ground, higher away from slugs. There used to be loads of them around and people would give them away. Now they cost a bomb to buy.

Received my Trevors, sent via Royal Mail - which is a risk. I'm still waiting for six Ebay parcels ordered before Christmas.

Also two packets of seeds ordered direct from offical nurseries in the US have never arrived at all. They took two weeks to arrive in the UK and then both got lost in the Royal Mail system. One was sent in July and we had another go in October. There is no way of tracking them down.So the money is lost. Most UK nurseries seem to send their plants via couriers, wisely.

@Fire - I liked the idea of storing bamboo canes in that was shown in a home video on GW. I’ve seen a photo of an enormous Claire Austin growing out of a small baseless pot and it looked really good/interesting

@JessicaS - not so “dainty” after all!

@Mr. Vine Eye Nope, that girl definatley bites!  Hoping flowers make up for it!

I was just about to say the same thing about garden canes too, I thought that was a great idea.

@cooldoc which Phenogenos did you go for?

Just noticed Crocus have 30% off potted roses. Not sure if GW 10% stacks on top... they have a nice selection from various breeders.

I keep getting drawn to "Schoolgirl" gorgeous colour. Does anyone have it?

Im taking out macmillain nurse, pretty and no issues but white dosent really go in my garden so rehoming with a friend, and I think Waltz time as well if I can get it out before spring as it dosent thrill me with insipid colour, blasts with rain in the open and throws up tall leggy canes so maydo better trained as a climber. My specimin is not very disease resistant either, friend has a spot alone for it to try!
