Hope you feel better soon Mr Vine Eye... I thought you'd had it before? not that it seems to make any difference.. I got a box of lateral flow tests but not used them yet..
@Marlorena - no as you say, lots of people are having reinfections. There’s one child in my sons class who’s had it three times already just this academic year!
This is the first time I’ve had it. But it was this time last year that my wife caught it. Hope the polytunnel stays safe this time!
Its affected us all differently. Wife feels very achey and drained. Eldest son felt tired the first day but perked up after that and is now in rude health. Youngest had a temperature and cough last night but woke up better. I just felt exhausted yesterday, had a short dizzy spell, and now I feel fairly normal - but tired.
Having been in the garden there’s a lot of buds on the roses so maybe I should try and start pruning over the weekend.
..gosh, well it seems there's no escape, so hopefully a quick recovery for you all.. I think it's these reinfections that I find so bothersome.. if one only caught it once, survived and then we were immune after that, it would be more acceptable..
I have a delicate procedure to attend to. I accidentally left a jute twine knit around one of the branches on my espalier Apple, and the tree has managed to bulge around it and the jute is now stuck. I need to see whether I can get it out with some tweezers and whether it’ll be ok like that from that point, or if I’m going to have to restart that branch.
unfortunately the tie was the very first one I put on that tier, so it’s right were it comes off the main trunk of the tree. Meaning I’d have to remove the whole of last years growth. But that’s obviously better than having a fail later on due to an infection and losing even more time on it.
Ill have a peek. Don’t be surprised if a new discussion pops up later about it!
^you should be able to ease that out, and save the stem.. I've had that happen on roses and young trees before..
Spring tulips from Tesco courtesy of my husband today.. ..this sends me ecstatic... 2 new basals on a young Ghislaine de Feligonde rose.. edit.. actually there's 3.. how terribly exciting..
Commiserations @Mr Vine Eye. Hope you all feel better soon.
My Trevor White roses have just arrived, two Nathalie Nypels, both looking good and healthy. I've put them in the unheated porch for the time being, it's too cold to do anything today and their pots aren't ready yet. I want to try to enlarge the drainage holes so that the roots can hopefully go into the ground when they grow. My pots are wide enough but not tall enough I think and as they were fairly expensive frost proof terracotta ones I would rather not have to buy new ones.
I've caught up now, glad to see the early season anticipation is getting to us all. Get well wishes to all with the lurgy.
Today is our first sunny day in ages here, no rain at all recently though it's just been cold and grey. I've taken the advice about pruning and finished today. I had left the most flowering ones till last but forced myself.
Scarborough Fair and Easy Does ItA lot of these around already though
I did get it 10 days ago. This was 2nd time and being triple vaccinated.. occupational hazard I guess, or from my kids.. Did not lose my sense of smell this time. It was mild (probably the vaccine or the variant..) with some body ache and sorethroat for 2 days.
@Omori I thought they had wrapped them in supermarket bags before realising that those were biodegradable ones... What was the first one with all those twiggy growth, some tea rose?
