Thanks @Marlorena, yes it's a real trooper, totally fuss free. I even hacked the deadheads off with my hedge trimmers and it came back lovely again.

Hello @Marlorena, an interesting selection you have there, the last one 'Heritage' is especially pretty.

Need some advice please. I was browsing through various rose sellers' sites last night reading up on the Nathalie Nypel roses I've just ordered. One site, (forgotten which, sorry) advised NOT to plant potted/containerised roses until June if purchased early in the year. Am I right thinking there's a difference between potted and containerised roses? As in, potted ones have been grown in their pots for a period of time and containerised ones have been dug up bare foot and then potted for a short while? I was planning to re-pot my two new ones into terracotta pots if the weather's better when they arrive but do you advise waiting till June?

..Hi Lizzie... it depends.. these terms are used interchangeably, so one has to read the website or label carefully..  personally I wouldn't buy a  potted / containerised rose this time of year unless it was a premium priced DA rose, as they clearly state their potted roses can be planted any time of the year.., especially at the prices they charge..  or heavily discounted like in the Trevor White offer..  all these should be 2 year old roses ready for planting out.. we're getting a more established plant with these..

Anywhere else, and it might say on the label ''recently potted'' and to wait until June, in which case I can't see the point of buying one now as I might as well have bought a bare root cheaper and plant that up.. they should make it clear at purchase, if it's been freshly potted or not.

Potted roses seen in garden centres during April/May have usually been winter potted and one needs to wait until end of May before planting..

@Lizzie27 as Marlorena mentioned, most of these arriving before April/ May would be essentially bareroot in a pot/container. I treated them similar to bareroot last year and they were fine. The soil around will fall off, but it does not matter. In my experience, roses are resilient, especially without any leaves on them and while planting in this season. (I am sure your potted would arrive without leaves). IMO, you can plant them straight away, much like a bareroot.

Thanks for your comments @Marlorena and @cooldoc. They are the discounted TW potted ones so I'll wait and see what they look like when they arrive. Soon, I hope.

oh ok.. they will be 2 year old roses ready for planting out or potting up straight away.. no need to wait.. they may be a bit root bound but otherwise just right..
