Is this to do with a particularly sunny and sheltered spot, I'm wondering...
  • I think that I should be able to smell that bouquet @newbie77, such sumptuous and cosy colours.

Sorry about your rose delivery @Tack, coincidentally I was browsing through Styles the other week considering those exact two roses but didn't buy. I was thinking to pad out my existing MW with a second but it is surrounded by bulbs and I don't remember if/where there was a space. MSND is beautiful. I hope they will be okay whenever they arrive.

I was struck with inspiration this week about a couple of problem areas and made another order, this time with Trevor White, I don't have to worry about that delivery until mid Jan though. Hopefully that will tide me over fun wise until spring, as I still have a lot of boring garden jobs to do.

    Gorgeous bouquet @newbie77
Ive got natalija out and Angel eyes and buds on other things. Im way behind tidyup and bulb planting so thats this weekends plan.

I brought some more hellebore to tide me  over with flowers whilst the roses are out of bloom, I know a few here are partial too. There are some stunning ones this year, farmyard nurseries have a lovely selection and I ordered a couple from harvington Hellebore too, excited for flowers.

Thanks for all the compliments. I have been able to get a bouquet per week and pretty happy with that. I wish I could smell it like before Covid. I get a little fragrance but not much.

My hellebores aren't doing much. I think they don't like wet soil. Cyclamen have been doing great and flowering non stop. They are basic ones from Aldi and in pots.

@newbie77 good splash of colours.. the grey skies made me feel that I am colour bind untill I saw your pic :D

@Tack I had similar experience with DHL.. my blood boils whenever I think about the lies they tell you.. Kordes (pre brexit) refunded me when I raised this issue with them..

This is Lady EH..does anyone know why do I see another new growth at the edge of the pot??

you say inspiration and I say 'Addiction'... :p in a good way... that's what made me order despite having a much smaller space than before..

  • More for pots @cooldoc, or have you got any space in the ground at your new place? What did you order? Sorry if you already said and I missed it.

@newbie77 I think you’re right about the hellebore. Mine are in dry shade at the base of conifers and do well there (thankfully since not much else does!) Maybe you could move them?
  • I’ve moved my hellebores in pots because they were withering very quickly in my relatively dry soil. They were getting a bit of sun, but not much.

@cooldoc It looks more like a seedling, you could try to see what’s under the soil.
  • Can anyone help with some queries about Graham Thomas, as a climber?

I identified a precious, mostly sun space for a small climber (6x6') today and was thinking a highly scented repeat yellow. According to some sources GT would be suitable for size and scent but not according to DA who have it as 12' and lightly scented. Any thoughts?

As an alternative, could Golden Celebration be trained as a climber?  The only other strongly scented yellows I have found are Noisettes described as tender.
