Went out and nailed all the bits of fence that were sticking out back down. Hopefully get them through another season.
I've also sown some seeds! I got a small bag of seed and cutting compost to keep inside and hopefully avoid the dreaded gnats.
I'll write it here as I'm bound to forget and hopefully one of you will remember. I didn't want to use a whole tray and compost for just three Scarborough Fair seeds, so I put them with the Malvern Hills ones, but at one end of the tray. There were three in a row. I have put little labels, but just in case I can't remember how many there were.
Elizabeth looks like it could be Emily Bronte's sister seedling or maybe even a descendant. Honestly, I think DA desperately need new blood and new lines, they can't keep mixing what they have, there's just a point when this stops working. But if they haven't started with this years ago and now only have one not at all impressive rose per year, I don't think they have a good future ahead.
@Fire I have found Chandos Beauty to be predominantly white with shell pink (sort of, as I felt, my 'Liliana/ Clair' was more shell pink for me) Marlorena's pics seems to have more yellow to it.. having said that, mine is only a year old..
I'll give you 3 reasons why I think there will only be 1 rose released this year..
1. Nothing competes with The Queen, it would be disrespectful to release other roses at the Chelsea Flower Show, which is what a new release is all about, in her Jubilee year, with all the fanfare and hullabaloo.. the CFS is at the end of May.. the Jubilee celebrations start shortly after in early June.. 2. The pandemic has obviously impacted them greatly regards propagation. I doubt they have caught up yet.. I would expect things to return to normal next year. 3. The loss of trade with the E.U. and I think even N. Ireland... essentially most of their customer base is in England... do they need to release more than 1 rose at the moment for this limited demographic?
Your Chandos Beauty is lovely @cooldoc I had forgotten you had it.. I don't think I've seen the outer petals quite so white as that one though, I have to say..

@Lizzie27
Peonies are ok Lizzie, they are Ranunculaceae, no connection with roses..
