Not too bad here so far, gardens well secured and quite sheltered too. I added a couple more supports to a few young potted trees just incase and put bird feeders on ground to stop them swinging (cue some very confused goldfinch trying to use them!)
@Tack I was going to pick cutie pie up too to put in a summer bedding pot, looks intriguingly cute! Hope it does well.
Barring a few upturned pots and a grounded obelisk with a rose, we have escaped the wrath of storm Eunice. I can see 2 Tesco bags stuck on the fruit trees. However, among the pots in the front garden, the wind has blown in plastic bottles, takeaway boxes, paper etc. which I'll clear today.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
We’ve come out of it unscathed. Didn’t want to say until we’d been to check the allotment plot, but all fine there too. Very strong winds here but definitely escaped the worst of it.
Glad to hear everyone's post Eunice updates. We completely lost the cover on our hanging egg chair, must have blown off somewhere so need to replace that, and the outdoor sofa got turned onto its side, but otherwise all is ok.
This was the 3rd major storm I've endured in my rose gardening life... the first was the Hurricane, Oct. 1987, when I had my first garden in north Kent, which took the brunt of it.. I had a 10 foot Leylandii conifer hedge uprooted, but we managed to pull it back to shape the next day.. my rose arch got blown to bits.. It was a night storm and I remember going out around midnight to feel the strength of the wind.. it was something else I can tell you .. the sound as well as the force of it .. going to work next day I noticed so many trees were down..
Another storm that's often forgotten is the so called Burn's Day Storm of January 25, 1990... in some ways this was worse than the 1987 one because it affected a larger area of the country, and lots of people were killed.. My rose garden once again got demolished..
The storm we had yesterday here, bad though it was, did not compare with either of those two.. fortunately..
It was quite strong where I live. Thankfully no damage to my garden and nextdoor garden, even though lots of large trees in garden. Other neighbors had fallen fences, blown away trampoline, lots of lost bins. Spotted fallen tree on my morning walk today.
