I have lots of new growth and buds on roses but not sure they will do very much now the weather has turned distinctly chilly. Two roses still going strong are Marie Pavie:
and Mme. Antoine Mari:
Excellenz von Schubert, long apical ‘racemes’ on the end of long arching stems:
Heidi Klum:
Ebb Tide, tiny blooms:
Munstead Wood is now a defoliated BS mess with scruffy blooms, but still producing plenty of buds:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
'The Anniversary Rose'.. still blooming well and in one of those silver Trevor White pots, about 4.5 litre... 'Mutabilis'.. about 5.5 feet x 4 feet in one season.. 'Tottering by Gently'.. flowers and hips..
Was gorgeous here too, really not wanting this to end
Golden Beauty, LoS, EDI and BathshebaBlush Noisette, TGG, Strawberry Hill and Claire AustinA dewy Royal William this morning, Penstemon Plum Jerkin, New Zealand- huge blooms and extremely luscious wafty scent, Grafin Diana-photo again failing to capture the black-tinged velvet budThis was munching on Dames deC so I put it in isolation until I could ID it, a Grey Dagger Moth apparently , so I put it on my toughest rose TGGEngland's Rose, Dioressence, Marie Pavie and Surrey
Anyone ordering any DAs for next year? Undecided about which might be worth it. The brochure with the 15% bareroot discount (BARREL) came through the door just after I'd got in from tutting over the dreadful foliage/habit of Gabriel Oak- bad timing lol.
Lots of buds on most of my roses, now it's just a race to see what will come out before the real cold sets in.🙈
@Marlorena - just so you know - your rose obsession has been spreading tentacles through our part of north London. I am now prepping a joint order for our gardening group of neighbours and a lot of new people are excited to try new roses. The order includes
Two Gertrude J
Falstaff
Two Malvern Hills
Ghislaine de Feligonde
Munstead Wood
Thanks to you and all the regulars for sharing your rose knowledge and experience. I relay it back and forth to the gardening group and it has been of material use over the last few years. Our neighbourhood will smell all the better for it.
Roses seem to grip people quite like no other plant.
