Sorry folks … I realise this is something other than curmudgeonly … but I’m so upset and angry I just couldn’t help myself.

Thank goodness for Sir Elton and his chums eh? Whatever anyone thinks about him, he's put back more than plenty, and at least he's earned it   :)

A lot of ignorant comments about cycling on here.  I am not saying you're ignorant just ignorant if what cycling is like and what cyclists need to be safe. Basically it only needs motorists to follow the highway code. Is that too much to expect? If they did there would be no conflict and no cyclists dying because of actions by motorists. I will try to educate you a bit.

That statement alone is so typical of the Jeremy Vine cyclist attitude.  The implication that either all cyclist abide by the Highway Code at all times or more likely, that the Highway Code doesn't apply to cyclists.

He's a little gem is ol' Elton, although, much as I  love him,  he really needs to stop attempting to sing.... :D

I have no doubt at all that some cyclists are idiots who give the anti cyclist lobby an own goal with their selfish behaviour. I hate that behaviour as much as anyone and have let such cyclists know about it too, to try and educate them. Possibly more than anyone here has.  BTW insulting someone from your car as you pass by isn't education just insult. The Highway Code applies to all users of our highways.

I don’t like cyclist on the roads, but then if you lived in a country  area with narrow lanes and no passing places you’d understand why.
Car tax doesn’t pay for road repairs, that comes out of council tax money.
