@Hostafan1 and @BenCotto   Ah!  You don't want to be teaching English as a second language.  These are the sort of questions a teacher gets when teaching adults.

I can't count the number of times I was asked 'why do you say........?' and had to reply . ' I don't know. I'll have to have a think about it.'

It drives me mad in cafes when somebody says "Can I get a latte" or whatever drink they favour.  If I was working there I would be so tempted to say "Sorry, it's not self service"

Don’t usually post on here, is this a thread for having a moan? If so, I’m having a rant because my washing machine has packed up. I did without a dishwasher for 6 months while the kitchen was being revamped, but I won’t be able to cope without the washing machine.  Grrrr. I’ll have to buy a new one, the old one is pretty ancient but has done the job well. Now the decisions.

I've got 2. ( don't ask ) We have a Bosch and a Hotpoint. If I had to get rid of one it'd be the Bosch I'd lose. £200 more expensive and it's not as good as the Hotpoint.  ;)

I bought a Bosch dishwasher to replace our broken leisure one and it is worryingly flimsy and poorly designed. Nothing like the quality you used to expect from them. There's a few good websites now that explain which brands are owned by whom and what the quality and service is like. Many big brands have been bought up for the name but no longer have any of the qualities associated with the reputation.  https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/about-the-appliance-industry/manufacturer-information
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

From the few sections I looked at on that site it doesn't seem to have been updated since 2016.  It may still give some indication of which names are no longer what you think they are.

We had a Bosch washing machine ... it washed no better and lasted no longer than the Hotpoint it replaced, and was considerable more expensive and so were the repairs.  It did impress a family member tho' ... she went straight out and changed her relatively new machine for a Bosch  ;) ... keeping up with the Doves 🤣

When our Bosch was uneconomic to repair we replaced it with an Indesit which is, according to the repair man, the same as a Hotpoint with a different face on ... he should know, he worked for Hotpoint for 30 years and uses their spare parts for Indesits and Hotpoints.
