Okay. There was a leader of one of the supermarkets on a current affairs show yesterday being questioned about empty shelves and difficulty in supply chain. If you can find that interview, I can't remember where I watched it, then you might get a view from someone in the know rather than mass media hype.
First off he was at great pains to point out that we need to be careful about playing this situation up. There are issues which are causing difficulties but the industry is used to dealing with difficult situations in the supply chain. He said it is very much a localised issue and not nationwide. There are a few shortages of certain items but overall the stores are well stocked at about 95% of stock.
It was a very informative interview because there's obviously a media interest in selling up stories but to hear from the top of the coal face so to speak paints a very different picture to your doom and gloom.
We all know the issues with driver numbers and other things but the overall message from this supermarket executive was it's not as bad as being made out. Its just a case of working harder behind the scenes to get product to stores and they're doing well at that except in a few products and localised supermarkets. I have no idea if an exec in a supermarket chain is talking the truth or knows what he's talking about. Up to you to decide for yourself.Â
Down to your patronising best I see. I work for Waitrose. I am well aware of "supply chain issues "Â
Not patronising just reporting the comments of the boss of a large supermarket chain, sainsbury iirc. If waitrose is having bigger problems than other supermarkets then perhaps its issue of scale or management issues. I have no idea but round here sainsbury and Tesco's have very little shortage issues when I was last in them at the weekend.
That's shocking @Hostafan1. I certainly think my daughter was jolly lucky to get a new rented property at a price she could just about afford in the same town last year.

My friend was paying £770 a month and the landlord is now charging £1,500Â
A few years ago, I asked how to encourage scarlet pimpernel . Someone advised that it would be a PITA. I foolishly ignored the advice and gave it free rein. While it's not entirely a PITA, there's a definite twinge in the nether regions. 😒
That's scandalous @Hostafan1, I'm afraid I don't know what the answer is. I think the Government (can't remember which one) tried rent regulation once before but presumably it didn't work well. Rents here in Bath are sky-high as well.
Scrap HS2 and use compulsory purchase powers to buy land for government owned housing. Not just crap starter homes but decent eco-communities of varied housing, including multi-generational living, with allotments. Allow for an office hub space and community facilities too as well as decent public transport links. In other news, today I christened the dog poo bin that the council took 18 months to sort out.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

and scap " right to buy " . Great for those who managed it, but a disaster for future generations who can no longer get a council home, ( there are effectively none ) and end up in private rentals, which many can't afford. They then need council benefits to help which comes out of the pockets of everyone who pays council tax. Council tax payers are making landlords rich. It's high time this was accepted and dealt with.
I have said before that for every, right to buy sale another council house should have been built. Thatcher specifically prevented this, but successive administrations failed to change this policy.Â
Oh the joys of no-weedkiller gardening😒. You put manners on the PITA of the moment and another one moves forward in the ranks. If nature stopped abhorring a vacant space for five minutes, I'd get a chance to deal with the vacant space😡
I spent weeks digging out trailing ground elder,  the rest I sprayed with SBK. Or whatever  it is,  hate spraying thought I’d try,  by the summer I had the best show of flowering elder you could imagine 🤬Â
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.Â
