    Hello all.

It's cloudy and a lot cooler today but they say storms are coming.

My handyman, C, came this morning. He's done strimmering along the hedge, started cutting the hedge and has put up my new flatpack bookcase.
I have started stacking the logs, will take ages as there is 6 m3 and I've put some books on the shelves.

P came to see if his donkey will go into my horse trailer, not quite there yet but was much better than expected. Donkey will be going to his new home on Friday, maybe. It's a long drive, in the Massif Central, middle of France.

SGL, little ones are so funny. I remember before we had smart phones and face time my young nieces and nephews - when on the phone and asked questions would just nod and you had to ask them to speak as the person on the other end of the line wouldn't be able to see a nod! Busy will you not miss grumpy donkey?

    Afternoon all,

Scorchio here. Not great when I'm inside chained to a couple of laptops all day. I've snuck out a couple of times for a mooch. If only this heat would last a few more days as I think the toms are just starting to turn.

The chillies, sunflowers and sweetcorn could do with an extended late summer as well. Still, at least the french beans don't care. Absolutely rampant this year :D

  • Lily I hope oh enjoyed his Pilates and you’ve enjoyed your visit with poppets.  Hazel I hope the car is soon sorted.  They seem to have a good idea what it is.  Busy you will miss the donkey when he finds his new home.

Evening chaps and chapesses. Sorry it's been a few days since I was in touch but we've had few days where the internet is a bit hit and miss.

The weather hasn't been kind to us - we've had highs of 13C, fog, mist, persistent drizzle etc etc. OH abandoned his cycling because it was just not nice. Fortunately the weather started to turn yesterday and it's been a glorious day today. Below are some of our lunch & tea stops over tha last couple of days. As you can see we've been a bit off the beaten track - lovely.

Heading for home tomorrow - will take 2 days. Fingers crossed my irrigation system's worked - it's been el scorchio and no rain there....

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Ooh that looks lovely @Topbird … very tranquil.
Glad your OH didn’t drive himself on when conditions weren’t good. There’s always another day, another week and opportunity. Good that you were able to enjoy the trip together … have a safe journey home … yes it is a bit frazzled here … but they say not for much longer 😢 😉

Hello there T'bird. Your pics are wonderful, so very atmospheric - thank you so much for sharing them. Have a safe journey home. The forecast here (after 2 days of scorching weather) is for thunderstorms and heavy rain tomorrow. That would be quite welcome. I hope that your soaker hose has done its job well.

  • Topbird thank you for your lovely pics,  have a good journey home.  LB yes I’ve just watched the forecast.  They’re saying it’s the end of the summer weather now.  We shall see.
  • Topbird forgot to say hope the irrigation system worked for you.  Take care.  Goodnight everyone, it could be a cooler night, sleep well.

@Biglad, you sounded a bit weary in your post - remember that you have passed the halfway mark on this latest job. Your tomatoes are starting to colour up now. I'm assuming that you have removed all the lower leaves from your plants now. You could always put a ripe banana in with them if you want to speed up the ripening process.
Ante, you must be getting ready to go back to school soon. I hope that the harvesting is going well.
Chive, thinking of you and sending good wishes to you and your Mum.
