Well the once promised warm spell for my week off has not materialised, but it’s turned out ideal for some hedge cutting and heavier pruning work. I’m running out of room for the waste now as most of the prunings are a bit too robust for my compost bins.
Really noticing the change in the evening light this week. I love Autumn but I’m not ready yet!
Hope all are well, or well considering the tough times they are in.
That's a nuisance @Busy-Lizzie, but at least you don't need to worry about cooking vegan after all. Are you intending to isolate before going to France? We've got one more stay lined up this week but after that I'm going to slow down and take it easy and safer. Think we've been pushing our luck a bit lately. In fact, I actually groaned today when the post arrived with yet another invite, but thankfully it's not until October.
Had some rather shocking news yesterday, it turns out that OH knew (a long time ago) one of the victims of the Plymouth shootings. He hadn't connected the names until a mutual friend contacted him. Very sad. It's a small world isn't it.
The pasta will keep @Busy-Lizzie and the pesto will freeze. I hope she doesn't have Covid and that you stay clear of it till you get home. You have a Christening don't you?
Two dishwashers here - one fitted in the new kitchen and the old one we brought with us and stuck in the pantry/scullery. Very handy. We've had a machine since 1984 cos OH is hopeless and she who shops and cooks does not do dishes!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I'm not isolating @Lizzie27, just not being too close to people and wearing a mask inside shops. Our friends have all been vaccinated. I have to sign a paper before I travel to say I haven't been in contact with anyone with Covid. My ferry is on Sunday. I'll be staying with OH's daughter on Saturday night and with my daughter near Poitiers on Sunday night. Back home on Monday. Baby grandson's christening on following Saturday.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning everyone. Another cloudless sunny morning and not too cold. Morning temp was minus 2.3c, but is pleasant outside now at 11.40am. Since the dirty clothes basket looked to be close to overflowing, I decided that I’d better get some washing done. Now I’m waiting for the machine to finish doing its job with the first load.
Our Roos must have found another sunny spot this morning. No sign of them around the house. They probably cleaned up all the most tender grass.
Early start for me today, big delivery, just on time too, we were down to our last bag of chips. 😱 Gone through 80kg this week. We thought it would slacken off this week, after the bank holiday on Sunday people here start thinking about back to work/school but the Brits have now arrived and the French and Dutch are still here so busier than ever. Late yesterday afternoon one waitress said to me "they just keep coming" .....they certainly do.
I've also had to steam clean the kitchen floor because when it gets done at night it's never really done properly, people are tired and just want to get home. At least if I do it before anyone else gets here it has a chance to dry properly.
I wouldn't have had much of a lie in anyway, the council workers have been strimming in the park below since 7:30 am. Very noisy.
I have a fruit cake to get in the oven now too, a really old recipe, it's one of our best sellers.
Have a good day all.

I had a restless night … not sure what that’s about … but then I slept late (for me).
Now my coffee has arrived and OH has gone out for a thrash around the village on his bike … I’ll drink my coffee and have a shower … then I’ll probably wake up …
