Weather not brilliant here, it just can't seem to settle. The garden is enjoying it though, everything still green, unusual here at this time of the year.
I'm staying at CdeG at the moment because of so many late nights and early mornings. I was very unsettled last night by a car that parked itself outside around 10:30 and stayed for half an hour with its engine running and lights on. In the end it drove off, but very odd, the whole street was deserted except for him. Anyway, all ok this morning, just unsettling, like many of you must have felt with your experiences above.
More issues with staff shortages, two of them have dogs, yesterday one of the dogs died and the other one may well have died by this morning. The first lady thinks she will have to leave because she's so upset and the other lady is an emotional wreck. Of course it's very sad, but what's the chances of two staff having the same problems in the middle of August. There's 3 of us working 12 hour days to get their shifts covered now, all very trying and exhausting. Nevermind, we'll get through it.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all 😊 ☕️ I've slept in 😯😀 OH has been out on his bike and made it rain 😂
It was probably someone making a phone call @D0rdogne_Damsel … or a taxi driver who has dropped someone off and has a pick up in your area in half an hours time … not worth going back to base … we get that around here occasionally … you and I would turn off the engine but not everyone is as sensible as us … and some mobiles don’t charge unless the car engine is running.
As for taking time off ‘cos your dog has died … how things have changed … it used to be pushing it to take a day off when your granny died. I know it’s upsetting … I’ve lost several much loved dogs and shed many tears … but no one came to milk my goats or muck out the pigs etc ‘cos I was upset … and keeping busy is the best way to cope with such situations I feel. I don’t think I’m hard hearted … just pragmatic. 🙄
Hey ho … doesn’t look like a gardening day … hope it’s drier down south @WonkyWomble ☔️
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Temperature has dropped - forecast 30°C today and wind only 70kmph! So dry!
Not blond, now pepper and salt, worked in an office and never had a bottom pinch or got stuck in stores with anyone! Always had nice bosses. I remember one whom I worked for in Marble Arch, stopped dictating mid-sentence and said "Look" ! There was a royal rehearsal parade going past with horses etc.
Expression for today: Après Saint-Roch, Aiguise ton soc! which means after the feast day of Saint Roch (16th), sharpen your tools. (Much work to be done in preparation for winter. Grape harvest for a start!)
Good morning. It's grey and cool but comfortable and dry.
Love the photo @Busy-Lizzie. Glad you had a good time. I need someone to show me how to handle crab. Here they sell it alive or cooked and just cut in half. I shall ask my patch ladies or maybe Fabienne next door.
No ill effects so far from yesterday's moules frites - was expecting my hands to lock up as they did last time but maybe cos I had them a bit too often and close together last time.
OH is off to Angers for a golf competition the other side of Angers today. Was going to leave tomorrow am but his tee off is 8:30 and it's a 2 hour drive so he's going today and will have a practice round and early night. Two girls nights for Possum and me.

Afraid not @Dovefromabovebut the upside is its not lawn mowing weather and that's the worst job for my back at the moment! Just finishing coffee then out the door have a good day folks!
Morning all, that is a lovely picture @Busy-Lizzie, are you coming back because OH's hip replacement is not taking place? That's a bummer @D0rdogne_Damsel just when you had everyone organized and working well. 16 deg and showery over here @tui34, the low cloud is sticking to the mountains - need some wind. I bought four Salvia of the "Magic" series in the spring and I am very pleased with them so need to see if I can find suitable cutting material, one is a deep burgundy colour which I would like more of.
I never had much hassle from men when I was young, but I enjoyed wolf whistles! I had 4 brothers.
@Obelixx, I find it a bit strange the way the French cut crabs in half, not possible to dress them properly. I was going to type instructions but, although fairly simple, it's a bit long. Here's a link with instructions and a video. https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/dressedcrab_90206
We are going to Morrisons for gluten free, no dairy, vegetarian food as OH's niece is staying tomorrow night, arriving before lunch. I'll do a vegetable curry tomorrow evening and throw in some prawns for OH and me.
Then we are invited to lunch today with friends.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thanks @Busy-Lizzie I've been served that halved crab in restaurants too hence wanting to know how to cook, dress and also eat the various kinds we see on sale in markets here and also use them in other dishes than just dressed Brit style.
Lots of vegan recipes on BBC Food and Good Food if you want to look @Busy-Lizzie. Chick pea curry is good and, in season, butternut squash curry but you could also do pasta with garlicky, lemony, mushrooms in olive oil.
Salvia cuttings for me too this pm @floralies if I can get my house jobs done first. A tapestry to re-hang in the dining room, table base to clean and cabinet windows to clean now the waxing and oiling has set.

@Busy-Lizzie Nice photo - weather looks clement too.

@D0rdogne_Damsel I understand your frustration. Hope you can sort it out. It is ilelgal to sit in a stationary car with the engine idling so you could have gone and said something - https://www.thelocal.fr/20190304/switch-off-your-motor-leaving-your-engine-idling-is-illegal-in-france/
