Hello folks, raining here and gusty, so no gardening today. Shame, as I had been hoping to do some much needed deadheading of roses and lots of weeding.
Still, I'm busy making lists of what to pack for the weekend, past experience tells me that fleeces, wellies and warm clothing will be the order of the day - which will probably guarantee a heatwave! Thank goodness we're not camping, been there, done that, never again. I'm far too old to crawl out of a tent in the early hours, don waterproofs and wellies and walk half way over a wet field in the dark to the loos.
@Lizzie27 I've been too old to do that since I was a teen and the very last time I went camping for holidays. Loathed it. Spent one night in a caravan when I went to fetch 8yr old Possum form a week away with my dad and his wife and the whole tramping across to the shower block reminded me just how much I hated it and we never even had shower blocks in the camping days of my youf.

Great minds think alike @Obelixx. We went camping, mainly to the Scottish Highlands, whilst I was young and it put me off for life (no shower/loo blocks either). My three siblings love it so there's no accounting for taste. They say I'm the odd one out, being a city girl at heart, although we were all born in the country. I blame it on my dad, who was a Londoner. Love is obviously blind as when I met my OH 25 years ago and discovered he did this annual camping thing with his beloved car club, I tried hard to convince myself I could manage a long weekend of it. Nah, as soon as I had my back accident 12 years later, I discovered a cast iron excuse for B & B's instead!
Major problems though, she needs live in carer now and there is no way we can afford that, so Moira desperately trying to sort things out, but finding it very stressful.

Glad Moira got back safely. Surely live in carers are up to social services to organise @punkdoc? Or they threatening to put MIL into a home as it's probably easier/cheaper?
Hiiiiii!!!👋👋👋 The traveler has returned. A bit of sunburn on her nose a few blisters on her feet and a few more aches and pains in her joined. BUT above else HAPPY!!
We saw the Ribblehead Viaduct, hiked almost 6 miles from Stainforth to Settle and had amazing views!
Also found proof that Hardy Geraniums will grow anywhere…….literally Kept coming across these clumps by the River Ribble. Then along the Lanes some were just randomly growing in fields. Now I decided that I want some more But I’m glad to be home
Hi all, back from my volunteer day at Capel Manor. It's all happening now, apparently the Japanese ambassador is coming in September to plant some cherry trees, and he will be doing a tour. Amazing how suddenly some of the bigger, non gardening jobs we've been waiting for are all scheduled to happen at last . The tea house has been painted, but will the new roof get done in time? We will see.
@Lizzie27, you get a contribution paid for, but the costs are astronomical, I could not believe the sums involved. Moira has 3 siblings, none of them poor, but the costs are just not affordable. At the moment her Mum is refusing to go into a home.

I can well believe you about the astronomical costs @Punkdoc. We did look into live in carers when my mum was ill but she lived in a rural area and I just thought I couldn't rely in them turning up. Fortunately, although she didn't want to go, she did agree to a nursing home. Her spine kept giving way so she kept falling and I wasn't able to lift her. I lived the nearest, my siblings lived 100 + miles away. Because her assets were over the £23,000 limit, it cost £25,000 for the five months she lived there and that was over 13 years ago. She had Multiple Myloma cancer of the spine, although we didn't know it at the time.
