Hello folks ☕☕☕☕☕☕☕ I've been out on the terrace emptying the pot saucers ... we had one helluva storm last evening ... torrential rain, hail and wind and thunder and lightening directly overhead for a couple of hours at least. Norwich is at the confluence of two rivers, and someone once told me that's why storms hang around here for so long (and they do seem to). I've no idea if that's true ... she seemed to think the electricity in the storms was attracted to the rivers. Now I'm on the sofa with coffee and watching the hockey and waking up slowly. Glad you've found Eurosport's Olympic stuff @Biglad. Their commentary is a bit hit and miss to say the least, but at least we can see more of the events.
The problem is that Eurosport outbid the BBC for the Olympic broadcasting rights by such a huge amount ... enough to fund the whole of the BBC radio output for 12 months ... and will only allow the BBC to show two live events at once ... it's causing a lot of juggling behind the scenes apparently. We don't usually watch the Eurosport channels, but they're part of the Virgin package that we have so if the BBC are showing boxing ... which I loathe ... then I can find another event ... and they did show more of the dressage.

A very good morning Dove and all to arrive later. Wild, windy and cold here this morning - and I am talking weather here! Off to see Bestie today but I doubt we will be gardening. I'll take my LOD knitting in case we are confined to inside though I do feel a GC visit could be made. Its a long time since we had tea and cakes.

Good Morning Dove & LB and all to follow, Dove We saw some of that rainstorm here, I hope your garden hasn’t suffered too badly from the onslaught, LB Have a lovely catch up with bestie today, hope Nemo delights besties granddaughter as I’m sure it will, Sun has returned today, I can see some casualties in the garden needing support. Have a lovely day everyone.
Good morning everyone. Dove I hope that nothing was damaged during the storm . LB ,lovely cheerful pic .Made me smile . Chive I hope your plants are not too badly damaged .
The dedicated highlights programmes on the BBC just can't/don't show enough. Ideal for those with the attention span of a goldfish. The rest of the coverage has so many hours that are filled with folk talking, interviews and other 'fillers', that it drives me round the bend.
I just hope that they do the track cycling and athletics justice.
Morning everyone, we had torrential rain during the night too. Hammering on the windows. The plants look a bit battered, hopefully they will perk up. Lots of rose petals all over the garden. The sun is shining at the moment, I do hope it stays. Have a lovely day with your friends @Ladybird4 Have a lovely day everyone
@Biglad we're recording all the BBC Olympic coverage overnight so we can watch some of it during the day, and then there's stuff on iPlayer ... but the BBC really are stuck between a rock and a hard place with their funding position. They just don't have the options that companies like Eurosport have.
I can't see any real damage to the plants ... but I've not ventured onto the veg patch to check the toms and squashes properly yet ... it's still a bit too boggy. The East Anglian farmers are having a worrying time ... the oilseed rape crop is just about ready for harvesting now ... the pods shed the seed at the slightest knock ... a bad hailstorm can be disastrous.

The weather here has been a bit frisky for the last 24 hours. Been out for a check and not much damage so far.
I had a couple of rogue tomato plants spring up at the bare end of a bed a few weeks ago. When I was getting rid of a few of the weedier specimens, some soil (and roots ) must have dropped there and decided to give it another go. They'd sprung up rapidly and actually looked much healthier than those carefully tended indoors earlier in the year However, during heavy rain the guttering above gets overworked and the resulting waterfall has flattened one of them. Either that or the strong winds we've had sent it sprawling over the sweetcorn.
