I’m just back from the dentist. He checked my filling and said best to leave it. Yvie Im sorry you have gallstones, hope it’s soon sorted for you. Chive I had a sleep in this morning. I feel better for it. LB I hope things are getting better for Chey now he has his new meds. Sending my best wishes. Lily it sounds like you had a lovely time with poppets you can rest now. LB I hope you’ve enjoyed your time with Bestie. Rained when I was out but only light rain. The roses have been blown about but are standing up to it, thankfully. Time for a cup of tea.
Seems very quiet on here today. Went for a back massage this morning, not so painful this time so it must be getting better. Fed the veg and pots and pulled the last of the beetroot. The covers from the sofa have been going round and round in lily's TV and are now enjoying the sunshine outside. Planning to paint our dining chairs at some point but they needed a bit of TLC so did that this afternoon. Now I'm watching the Olympics with a cuppa. Not a bad day. Glad you didn't have to have anything done at the dentist Bluebell.
This morning we cut most (just the front to do now) of the big hedge - mature beech over 2m high by about 75m long - big job. OH cut and I cleared and we now have 5 builders 1 tonne dumpy bags ready to go to the tip. Booked in for tomorrow - so hope they all go in the van. Think the recycling centre are going to keep this system whereby you have to book a slot at least 24hrs in advance. To be honest, it's a right PITA - we could have done to have got rid of it all today.
After that I tackled the soft fruit patch where raspberry runners were rife and then one of the big borders with more cutting back. Lawn covered in snippings so I cut the grass as well. With the big pile of shredding I did yesterday the compost bin is now just about full. Need to give it a water to make everything settle and start off the decomposition. With nearly a cubic metre of fresh shreddings and chopped up clippings it's gonna get hot, hot, hot in that bin over the next day or so. Love making compost😎
Glad you didn't need any work doing Bluebells.
Wish I could wash our sofa covers Yvie. The labels say dry clean only but they're only fabric. Two sofas = expensive dry cleaning bill. Very tempted to bung them in the machine on a wool wash - but what if they shrink? 😱
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Considering how grim the weather has been here today (I've had long sleeves on!), spent quite a while pottering. Checked all the plants in pots and lined up all the ones that still needed re-potting (in size order). Moved the biggest plant (Cornus Alba) into a massive pot that I've acquired and then the next one into the vacated pot and so on. Very satisfying when the huge empty pot I started with ended up being replaced by a tiny empty one
Still waiting on the new fence panels that have been on order for about 20 years . Can't wait to get them in so I can get everything planted in the ground and no longer have a garden quite so full of pots. NDNs back border is growing rapidly so there will be some hacking back of that lot when the fencing does finally arrive.
Afties all. Had a great time with Bestie. If talking was an Olympic sport I reckon we would be joint gold medal winners! We spent a lot of time extolling the positives of beetroot, pineapples and blueberries; looked up the menu at our next pub meal venue, drank loads of tea and ate biscuits. All of that took 5 hours!
RosieBB, I'll pass on your kind wishes to Chey too. I do have to say that the rain dance was maybe too vigorous as it has rained non-stop all day - some heavy and some light but very wetting. Pleased to hear your Dentist's advice is to leave things as they are.
Yvie, glad someone got some sunshine and you've managed to get the sofa covers sorted. You could have pegged them out here for extra rinses.
T'Bird, how are you and your OH fixed for coming up and cutting my front hedge? I've had the hedge cutter's battery on charge so its already to go. Speaking of unmentionables, I have a pair of huge lined curtains (90x108) that stated on the care label that they should be dry cleaned but I bit the bullet and risked it. Because of their size I could only do one at a time in Lily's TV. They came out brilliantly and no shrinkage. I can't guarantee this would happen with every item but I'm happy I took the gamble.
Biglad, you sound like you have been playing Matryoshka dolls with your plant pots. When is your fencing due? Hopefully during the next nice spell of weather.

Sounds like a good day @Ladybird4. I reckon they'll arrive this year but I wouldn't like to bet on it
The footage of my pot-shuffling antics on NDN's security camera (which was pointing right at me) would be very amusing if sped up to the Benny Hill music
We had a good day in Norwich, the sun came out, too. I bought a silver antique napkin ring for baby grandson's baptism and more books for Son 2's children. Had lunch in The Belgian Monk www.thebelgianmonk.com/. Then we went to M&S and bought some food then to John Lewis and bought some plates so at last we have a complete set. None of OH's crockery sets were complete because of breakages over many years and we kept running out of smaller plates for breakfast toast because they were in the dishwasher. OH rented a mobility scooter which had bags for shopping, but I was on my feet, walking for about 5 hours, knee hurts and legs ache.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Busy you sound as though you have had a successful day .I am not surprised that your legs ache . Five hours on your feet is quite a stretch .LB ,good to hear you enjoyed your time at your Besties . BL 😁.It’s been a damp day ,got a lot of indoor jobs done.I really dislike hw . I had a lovely aunt who spent her working day organising her staff . Her idea of relaxation was to clean the house .🤔 Bluebell it’s good that you didn’t need anything done with your tooth . TBird I have washed several ( dry clean only )curtains on the cold cycle .They were perfectly alright.
Busy, you sound to have had a lovely day - well apart from the marathon walking session. Have I got it right and it is next month that you are going back to France for the grandson's baptism? The antique napkin ring sounds beautiful. I did have a little smile when you were describing your crockery purchases - only because it brought Greek dancing into my head. Feet up tonight and have a rest.

There was a storm with hail here too last night.
Glad you had a good day with bestie, LB.
