@jw89. Your sweetcorn is doing just as it should. Those are the male flowers and they’ll produce the pollen which will pollinate the cobs further down the stems … as here

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Our village always has an annual plant show in Sept. Obviously last year didn't happen and they have decided that this year will also not.
The photos that so many of you have contributed show that fabulous harvests are happening even when we have had failures at the start and so many new gardeners joining the delight (often nightmare) of fruit and veg growing.
How lucky we are to have a space to grow something to eat fresh.
    Wonderful thread.

    Oh Plums part 2.
The wind & rain has caused havoc. Still picked another bucket full  from the tree.  Spent 1/2 the day cleaning up the mess, while dodging the wasps and flies.

Can't seem to load the picture.

Tonights pickings from the greenhouse and garden, the marmande are just ripe the gardeners delight arent the most flavorful but the sungold are fab just the right mix of sweetness and tartness. I'm picking anything remotely ok as I also removed twice as much of blighted fruit. On the upside the aubergines are going great that's us into double figures and there are maybe 20 more still growing.

    That's a good haul there @Wilderbeast
I went away for four days, before which I picked everything ready in the toms and cucumbers. Came back to a couple of cucumbers of double the size, on a mini plant, 😆 and lots of ripe toms.
Spent today making a second batch of veg soup for the freezer, and as usual the neighbour gets the extra toms and cucumber.
Never have I had to make soup this early, and that is after a slow start!

Thanks @purplerallim not sure how things are going to go as the tomatoes ripened loads today, it's a race between ripening 😀 and rotting 😭.

Blight gets most of us at some time @Wilderbeast. My greenhouse is susceptible in Autumn,  so it's a matter of wait and see what conditions appear this year.
Maybe the removal of a big trees shadow will help in mine this year.
