A dear friend chose the direct cremation then had his ashes put in a firework rocket and fired off from the meadow in front of their home at a bonfire bbq party … showers of sparks over the village … now whenever folk there get grit in their eye or gravel in their shoe it reminds them of F… 😊

funerals and weddings have to be the most ridiculous waste of money .
As soon as you mention either, the cost of everything goes up.

It’s the second bit of paperwork that can be difficult, apparently …. I’ve not tried it … but you know your local council … I suspect Environmental  Health might want to get involved … the regulations about disposing of animal carcasses can be quite stringent … at least they always were … especially anywhere near a water course…
I know a farmer who has made enquiries …

The rules on cremation are simpler than for burial ( which does factor in water course risk )

Ah … that makes sense … but are there no regulations that ensure that the body is properly ‘reduced to ashes’?   I mean, a garden bonfire wouldn’t do the job … it takes a pretty fierce heat … we’ll thats my understanding from viewing The Wicker Man and several episodes of Midsomer Murders.

I think there was an episode of Vera involving an incinerator where there were recognisable bits left hanging around so to speak …

    Good morning Forkers.

We have rain.  The forecast says showers from 11am but the radar shows it's already here and steady and will be for a while.   Fine by me as the soil needs a good soaking for the next weeding session and today has been designated h*sework day cos I'm planning to take advantage of the cooler days to paint the kitchen.   We had to have some channels dug in the wall after the new kitchen was installed in order to fix a problem with the wall  cupboard lighting so I have some repairs to hide.  That's me sorted for tomorrow then.

How are you doing @Hostafan1?  Coping?   Good luck with all the planning and chasing.

Hope everyone's OK or better today.

    Good morning Forkers

No rain for us.  Some wind, but very very sunny.
The veggie garden is yielding well.
Glad you "popped in" @D0rdogne_Damsel and glad to hear things are rocking!!  It'll be interesting to see your comments in August.

    Have a pleasant day everyone.

I reckoned a couple of lorry loads of logs would produce sufficient heat

Well, certain tribes of American Indians did it with less than that and I'm sure the Asian Indians don't have that much fuel for their funerary bonfires.
