Well, certain tribes of American Indians did it with less than that and I'm sure the Asian Indians don't have that much fuel for their funerary bonfires.

I've seen enough funeral pyres in India not be put off by it (my daughter's opinions notwithstanding )

    Good morning all.

Well done @D0rdogne_Damsel, for sorting it all out. I wonder if I will recognise you when I next see you? You sound like a real boss! Sounds hard though and you have to stay in control.

We are going to what @Dovefromabove calls “the city” this morning to buy a christening present for my new grandson.

Norwich is a city @Busy-Lizzie ... can't say we're going into the town ... that would imply Ipswich  :o  or Dereham :open_mouth: or Wymondham :o or somesuch ...  :o

And beware ... apparently today is Norfolk Day ... there's all sorts of activities going on in the city ... there's a Chatty Bus for you to sit on and Mardle ... and someone wants to tell you Norfolk Tales somewhere or other ... you might be accosted by strangers who've dusted off their Norfolk Accent for the day.

I watched a programme about the Hindu funeral pyres not long ago ... there's a real skill to building them apparently ... I wonder whether there's instructional stuff on t'internet ...

Morning all, can't stop.  Just popped in to give hugs to @Hostafan1 and moan about lack of rain here still.  A friend of my daughter's did a natural burial - no coffin, buried in a dedicated burial space. No officials as far as I know, just lots of friends, flowers, music. The deceased was transported to the site in a suitable wrapping with lots of flowers in the back of his friends van.

    Good afternoon folks,

Hosta,  I like the viking Idea,  set out on a boat in the lake and set alight,  Time team used to experiment with recreations of the methods.

Meanwhile,  here in the huge town not city of Ipswich,  even though it's city sized with city troubles,  our tory mp won't support its city status bid even though it would create jobs and investment  ..... any way.... I've put my lower back out badly and made it worse by going to work this morning.  Now at home and not moving and very glad that I put steak kidney mushroom and red wine in the slow cooker last night,  think I am allowed to cheat with bought pastry if I have a bad back 😅

Thank you, very useful. We've decided not to go to Norwich today as crowded pavements aren't easy for mobility scooters and more Covid risk. I know Norwich is a city though.
