    Evening all.
Although it’s slightly cooler by temperature this evening, it feels very muggy. Clouds are gathering with a breeze just starting so I’ve moved the chairs, parasol etc into the garage. Water butts, pond and the garden all crying out for some rain.

I hope you are keeping strong @Hostafan1, and everyone else having a tough time.

Those mackerel were delicious ... a bit pricey but big and fat ... we had them lightly spiced, with baked sweet potatoes and courgettes.  Now I'm going to put my feet up and have a look at one of the Olympics programmes ... I did manage to tune in earlier for the lighting of the flame part of the opening ceremony which I thought was beautifully done ... and I thought the Emperor's speech set just the right tone.

Right ... lead me to the sofa ..........

I'm about to watch RHS's Tatton Garden Show at 7pm. Still 27.4c so too hot to move, let alone cook steak and chips - I thought it was going to be cooler tonight!

Thanks for the reminder @Lizzie27, we'll watch it on Catch up. We've just been to the pub, met a nice couple and had a good chat. Bought fish and chips from the van earlier, now heating up in the oven.

I enjoyed it @Busy-Lizzie, some good small gardens, intelligently described and photographed and none of those stupid conceptual garden rubbish.

Been a bit of a breeze here today, and feels quite a bit cooler as a result. No sign yet of the weather warning high winds, but we can hear the thunder rumbling to the south. The Met Office radar shows the storm is heading our way. Our local Waitrose car park has a wonderful view of the sea, and there was a mega cruise ship on the horizon when we stopped for supplies. Heading towards the Torquay area, I wonder if it’s joining the ‘mothballed’ ships in the bay to shelter from the approaching storm?
Took a chance this evening, and only watered the most vulnerable pots, I’m hoping we’ll get some rain tonight.
Hostafan, So pleased that your hubby has been accommodated so near to your home. He might not like it, but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t like any alternatives, and they could be hundreds of miles away. At least you won’t be wearing yourself out, and will have the energy to enjoy his lucid moments. Take good care of yourself.

    Morning all.

Had a thunder storm about 6am - the sky is clearing now but due back later. Might go back to sleep…

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
no storms over here @AuntyRach … we have the possibility of rain late this afternoon but the storm symbol has disappeared for now.
I may need to do some watering of the veg patch this morning …

Good morning.   No storms here but we have had 4mm of rain overnight which will settle the dust.  It feels cool and there's a good breeze.   In a while I shall go and see if it's made weed pulling any easier.

We have an Anglo-French club picnic tomorrow and I'm making a Coronation chicken pie to share with our little group - fellow lycée cooks.   The forecast was for storms tomorrow but that has been downgraded to possible showers and .6mm of rain.  Should be able to cope with that dribble.

Haven't seen the Tatton coverage on the Beeb yet as I've been busy and Monty did his somniferous trick again so I need to catch up on GW too.  Did anyone see his Japanese garden progs?

    Hope you've had a good night @Hostafan1
