I'm so sorry @Hostafan1, you and OH are in our thoughts. I really hope a nice place can be found for him that is near enough to you.
I'm late here today as OH and I have been out and before that I had phone calls to make. It is our 10th anniversary of our Blessing tomorrow, but we went out to lunch today as the place we wanted was booked tomorrow. I expect @Dovefromabove has heard of it, the Fox & Goose at Fressingfield, delicious food. We have been before and have our favourite table but couldn't go last year because of Covid. They were doing take-aways but it's a bit far for us for that.

Its under new management nowadays but I’ve heard that the food is still very good … I’m glad you enjoyed it and have a lovely celebration of your Blessing tomorrow as well 🥂

Hopefully he was receiving his State Pension and possibly Pension Credit (depending on entitlement) plus Attendance Allowance @lyn.
The only concession I got was knocking the vat off the nappies. He got his state pension, and as I said, they sorted out some money after he’d died. Just a couple of weeks worth. No district nurses, except to put in a new catheter, we had one Marie Curie nurse come in twice a day on the condition I would help her. I asked if I could get draw sheets to help with the bedding, they didn’t know what they were, bit old fashioned now. Nothing was available on NHS then. I did get an electric ripple bed but had to get any other aids myself.
Seems its much better now, so much more help available, and I’m only going back 5 years with dad and 6 with mum.

I hope you have an enjoyable, sunny weekend @AuntyRach.
I've sent you a message @Dovefromabove, about dates. Fox and Goose was bought by the chef there, Paul Yaxley, in 2002. He had to do it up and has built up its more recent reputation.

I've had a nice quiet day, caught up with the ironing (too hot to garden) and pottered about generally. Sat out on the terrace after dinner with a glass of wine which was so peaceful and quiet, not a sound. We are so very lucky to live here on the outskirts of the city, the best of both worlds. Sorted out some potted up plants to give to my daughter who's meeting up with us all tomorrow for a 3 birthday celebration dinner. Grandson was 13 today - how on earth did that happen so quickly?! Granddaughter is 10 next week.
The GP is going to ring tomorrow to discuss OH's hip x-rays, sounds a bit ominous.
Enjoy your long weekend @AuntyRach, you've probably earnt it. Best wishes for your Blessing Anniversary tomorrow @Busy-Lizzie.
I'm afraid I'm over worked and very stressed and very grumpy, my chef is refusing a vaccination so I have to let him go, 145,00€ fine if he's caught on the premises and the possibility of a year in prison for me, seriously.....
However, small and insignificant compared to the awfulness of your situation @Hostafan1, I send you all my love and support, so desperately sad. Does he know/realise the situation, have you got a good support network? You must feel completely lost, on so many levels. Hugs are all I can send. If you're ever in need of a break/escape you would be welcome here for an escape in rural France, an opportunity to take a breather, we could meet up with @Busy-Lizzie too.
That would be nice @D0rdogne_Damsel. Do you ever get time to take a breather though? What will you do without your chef? I thought your chef was female. Must be mad to refuse a vaccination. He won't get another chef job either.

Morning @Pat E you're welcome to our rain, it's been horrendous here, although yesterday was mainly dry and the forecast does finally look a bit more settled from today.
There are five of cooking @Busy-Lizzie, 4 women and 1 French man. We're so busy it can't be done with just one person, I have two chefs on most of the time, one doing hot food, one doing cold. Of course we're open 7 days a week, 10 until 10 at the moment, with days off and holidays we are already a bit thin on the ground so losing him is a big blow. He is tricky to manage though because he's just lost his driving license and is reliant on getting a lift in, means I have to work the rota around that. I also have one of the women chefs refusing to work with one of the others, a younger girl who wants weekends off.....so it goes on....
Anyway, at least the sun is shining today. 😎

Special thoughts to @Hostafan1. Plenty of listening ears and virtual cuppas on here for you.
