I agree Dove do you remember when I was nursing my mum with cancer,  no help at all, I offered to pay any amount of money, was told it wouldn’t make any difference.
I was told to just keep giving her the morphine as often as I thought it was needed.

Its much better these days,  I’m sure they’ll be able to help them.
A very sad situation,  I was very fond of Hostafan’s OH.😢

In our case funding was withdrawn as they claimed she was now stable and comfortable, neither of which was true as the cancer was spreading rapidly and she died a month later. PT got the fast track funding following a review by their medical team and OH lodged an appeal against the funding withdrawal pointing out numerous failures to follow correct assessment procedures. There is an awful lot of could/should/would in the system which can cause a lot of additional grief for some when they least need it. It can be very complex to navigate and is complicated by poor communication between the various agencies involved e.g. social services calling a week after she died to see how she was.

    Hi all

Sorry not been very chatty the last few days, suffering badly with my back, making me very grumpy.

    Hugs @Hostafan1

I hope he doesn't mind me explaining that funding shouldn't be an issue for @Hostafan1 's husband ... he will be eligible for Continuing Care funding from the NHS as his condition is so serious and imminently  terminal.  Because of the severity of his dementia he will need a specialist placement.
    Thanks Dove.
As ever you explain things so much better than I.

Dear @Hostafan1, I am so sorry to hear that your husband is terminally sick.

Every good wish to you both.

I received some carers allowance when I looked after my dad, about a fortnight after he’d died,  not when I needed it,  when I phoned and told them he’d died they said the money was mine to keep,  that was something I suppose.
I don’t know how people get on that can’t afford to lay out in the first place,  I was getting through packs of nappies for him at around £26.00 every couple of days.
I’m sure things are better now.

"...For people with severe leaks, continence clinics and district nurses can supply incontinence pads on the NHS..." https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/urinary-incontinence/incontinence-products/  District Nurses usually set up regular deliveries.

Hopefully he was receiving his State Pension and possibly Pension Credit (depending on entitlement)  plus Attendance Allowance @lyn.
