he hung about for ages, then as soon as he flew away , a wee bird flew off from between the pots he was staring at.

Gosh, that must have been a lucky escape! We haven't seen our local sparrowhawk lately but often watch the buzzards circling over the high hill opposite. We're anticipating red kites within the next year or so, they've apparently been seen at Devizes which isn't that far from here.

    Hello all,
I've read back but all a blur, I'm exhausted and stressed, so much juggling to do with staff and weather and now, 'new restrictions'.....  was  summoned to a meeting this afternoon at the mairies office, ended in fisticuffs, OMG. Not me but other restauranteurs..

    So much to deal with....

    Anyway good night all. Xxx

Morning folks, said on TV, sunrise was 4.48, it was light long before then.sunrise is a bit of a misnomer, because it gets light even on a cloudy day
Just watched a Professor from Edinburgh saying if we wear both a surgical AND cloth mask it will prevent transmission of virus by 90%. "normal life" this IS normal life, now.am very surprised on Mumsnet, everyone complaining about coming out of lockdown, - it's too soon, the government wants to kill us all. They've changed their tune, last year they were moaning about rules, lockdowns, job losses, businesses closing. I don't comment,I get e mails, because I joined up some years ago.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Hugs to @D0rdogne_Damsel … it must be so tough at the moment. Our local press is full of restaurateurs telling of people who’ve booked not showing up. One of our favourite places up on the coast had 3 tables totaling over 20 people failing to show up at the weekend. Appalling!  I wouldn’t take a booking without a deposit if I were them.

It’s an overcast morning … the forecast suggests it’ll be a grey but dry day … then we get ☀️ 🤞 😎

We’re having Smart meters fitted this afternoon … OH has cleared the area of the garage around the meters so I think we’re about ready for them. I’ll get the windup radio out and give it a good charging …

I've had lots of trouble with various meters, thankfully we don't have room for a supposed "smart," one. I have economy 7, keep a very close eye on my consumption. Last supplier tried to tell me my digital meter installed I think 2013 was likely to catch fire,if I didn't change to a smart one

We were booked to have a smart meter a couple of years ago … there were several missed appointments resulting in us being paid several No Show compensation payments. We were then told that our area wasn’t suitable for Gen 1 smart meters. We have since changed our supplier and as part of our tariff we’ve agreed to have a smart meter. Apparently  the 2nd Generation ones will work here … so 🤞

    Good morning all.

@D0rdogne_Damsel   I can imagine the meeting yesterday!  Festivities in various villages have been cancelled here.  A lot of the clubs and associations have a restaurant stand for the "festival" weekend to raise money for their coffers.(football, rugby, judo, gym etc.)  Hang in there.  There are still many people double vaccinated; mostly oldies and they have the time and money to queue on your doorstep!!  Stay strong.

Windy and cool again.  Winds dropped from 80kmph to 65kmph today.  Can't tell the difference but I won't be running a comb through my hair this morning.  No point!

First ripe tomato yesterday ... good things to come!!

Our new rules mean that DD won't be able to serve people inside or outside who haven't been double vaccinated as from the beginning of August.  Also commercial centres (malls), train and plane trips and long distance bus trips, hospital workers and carers in general need to have had their double vaccination.  So that includes teachers, canteen staff etc etc. have to be double vaccinated - or - they lose their job if they refuse - and there are many.   From the 21st July, theatres, cinemas, sports centres and attraction parks require the double vaccination certificate.  And from September, a third vaccination will be available for the early starters.   The govt. haven't said anything yet about supermarkets  small or the large ones in the commercial centres.  But it stands to reason that this could come under the c.centre umbrella.  A good system, but it should perhaps have been put into place earlier due to the wait between jabs.

Have a pleasant day to all asunder!

PS  A test will cost from Autumn onwards if you don't have a doctor's prescription.
Workers have until the 15th September to get their act together.
