Busy busy day here getting things cleared ready for the arrival of Possum's stuff tomorrow. Want to get the van emptied and back to la Roche so we avoid paying for another night. Kitchen cupboards reorganised and cleaned; freezers in annex cleaned and shuffled ready for her fridge freezer to be slotted in; old drinks fridge cleaned and installed in "cave" for when I start making cheese; DIY tools and bits and bobs moved to a new home and spice and baking drawers reorganised; floors cleaned and washed...........
I've stopped for a cuppa before the next phase which is fitting 3 extra shelves in the walk-in wardrobe to hold more storage boxes.
Next knee jab tomorrow will seem positively relaxing!
No social life a such here yet other than chats with neighbours when we see them but we are treating ourselves to a day off on Monday and t'other pair will go to a beach while I mooch about the shops and pier and we've booked lunch at a beachside restaurant. Not high gastronomy but good nonetheless. It's where I first came across riso venere. Love it and use it often now.
Can one of the younger generation please explain to me what the devil is a "Karen", it was on a certain other forum,I dared not ask on there,I will surely get torn to bits
Evening everyone. I’ve been doing a ping pong between tennis and gardening today.
I think I’ve caught up on your news.
Belated congratulations to chicklette @chicky, good to hear people are having meals, socials and holidays, brilliant cake @d@D0rdogne_Damsel, hope everything will be ok with hubby @Hostafan1 (results usually back same day unless specialist needs to see).
A ‘Karen’ is a term used to describe a stereotype of a middle class white woman who exhibits behaviours that stem from privilege. I thought it was just a derogatory term for the type who make complaints and calls the council about stuff etc but now I believe it is more associated with racist tones, although recently it has been linked to being anti-vax/anti-mask etc.
Have a pleasant evening folks.
Edit: sorry Dove. You beat me to it and I missed your post.
Seems a bit unfair on the women who are really called Karen. I once had a friend called Gay, that seemed hard too.
We had a lovely lunch out, enjoyed seeing our friends. We had seabass with prawn and samphire risotto, it was yummy, then sticky toffee pudding. Friends came home for coffee and to see some photos of my new French house and garden.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Busy-Lizzie … we once lived in a pretty house with decorative tiles on the front. It was called Gay House … husband was a builder … he took a lot of ribbing in the 70s … on the other hand there was a lovely cottage down the lane had always been called Pansy Cottage … the couple who bought it said ‘somehow we knew it was meant for us 😉’. 😊

First match I've watched all through since 1966.
